The Mysterious Overdraft Charges

I've been banking with BofA for a few years now and recently got slammed with several $32 overdraft fees for what amounted to less than $5.00 of being overdrawn. However, as we all know, things at Bank of America aren't ever as simple as they seem. When I started checking through my online statements I couldn't find a single instance where my account had ever been overdrawn. So I took time out of my life to call BofA and speak with a representative about the charges. After several rounds of incompetence and finding them as unable to explain the situation as I could, I took more time out of my life and drove to a banking location to speak with one of their financial gurus. She admitted that no overdraft had ever taken place and that it could be a timing issue (i.e.: when deposits went in and debits went out) however this never showed on my statements. Finally the women calls somebody else higher on the banking food chain. After giving the mystery person on the other end my banking information, there was a lot of "uh-huhs" then finally she agreed to remove two of the overdrafts fees but that the rest would remain. Now my question is why wasn't the other person put on speaker phone? It seems to me they had realized their error and in order to shut me up but save their business money, they decided to make a compromise. I'm not normally a paranoid person but attitudes like this aren't uncommon at Bank of America. But if you're still adamant about banking with them, then do so - just know, you've been warned.
