What makes BofA think that they have the right to put _5_day_ holds on checks you deposit to your own account? Such bullshit. It takes them all of like a day and a half (maybe less) to actually verify with the other bank that the funds are there. The extra five days must just be part of their "screw you" policy where they do everything in their power to increase the number of insufficient funds fees you pay.
It took me a while, but I finally dropped BofA. Now I do all my banking with USAA =)

Re: ... And those pesky fund holds
Fri, February 3, 2006 - 8:07 AMED, I just switched to USAA too. They're great to work with; considering they are now dealing with BoA screwing us both on a transfer. Great place so far though (USAA). -

Re: ... And those pesky fund holds
Fri, February 3, 2006 - 9:58 AMI like the small banks myself. I opened an account with Western Financial Bank.
I have had so many problems with money, credit card companies, debt consolidation companies, etc. I am actually going to start going to a 12 step program because I have emotional issues attached to money now. I can't look at my checkbook without crying.
My job was outsourced to india four years ago (medical transcription). It's hard to find a good paying transcription job in a hospital now. I used to make over 40 grand a year with full benefits in a hospital, 2-3 weeks paid vacation, medical, dental, 401k, etc. and now I make 10-15 bucks an hour with no benefits.
I was hospitalized last summer and my health insurance (Blue Cross/United behavioral health) wouldn't cover it because they said "I did not show clear signs of suicide"...let me tell you , I was suicidal after getting denied after appealing three times! AND I was paying $600 dollars a month for my COBRA in order to keep my health insurance after I got laid off! They just took my money and sodomized me with a $10 grand hospital bill!!!!! motherfuckers!
I ended up having to declare bankruptcy after getting a credit card debt of 20 grand down to 4 grand.
I mean, I just feel like it's a losing battle with these corporations. Screw the little guy.
So, yes, I am emotionally traumatized right now over my money issues and am finding that I actually need emotional help dealing with the simple task of balancing my checkbook. I feel that I am in a vicious cycle now and that I will recreate my financial mess again if I don't put a stop to it and get some help. I am hoping to hit my first debtors anonymous meeting next week.
So, Christina, I totally understand why you feel like you are going absolutely crazy right now. I really do.
These banks make you feel like YOU are the bad guy...YOU did something wrong...like YOU are the crook, as if YOU were irresponsible. You are not. THEY are greedy motherfuckers who could care less about you. You are nothing more than a number, a bank account. Their only loyalty is to the bottom line. They have no conscience.
So, Look out for number one. Look out for Christina. -

Re: ... And those pesky fund holds
Fri, February 3, 2006 - 10:22 AMI have been and am where you are now. We filed bankruptcy last year for my business that closed down AND the BoA credit card debt that they kept messing around with as well. Things will get better; I know. I was so upset and crying when I called my mom today that she thought someone had died at first. The good news is that my new bank said they would reverse any overdraft fees (they would charge just $25 ONE time for all the 5 bills paid) and they know it is NOT my fault with what went on. BoA refused to do anything but the person I talked to at my new bank said she used to work for them and they are HORRIBLE my story, she said, would sound fishy to someone else who had not worked for BoA before because, she said, banks just don't do that to people......except for this one. Thank goodness I talked to her and she made notes on my account explaining the whole story and how it was not my error (BoA NEVER makes notes on accounts like that).
Thanks for responding, Lola...it helped.....I was so upset last night that I could not sleep; let alone type right HEHE. -

Re: ... And those pesky fund holds
Fri, February 3, 2006 - 10:47 AMYeah, I was applying for a school loan and the school was affiliated with two banks..."bank one" and b of a. I was like "not BofA!!! I hate them!" and the financial aid woman was like "OH, EVERYONE hates them! Everyone says that when I ask them who they want their loan with!"
