The famous Latin exotic dancer "Tongolele"...One of my childhood inspirations to learn how to "shake a tailfeather"....
Just one more of a vast array of 'archetypal' images that have influenced modern bellydancing. Mona El Said tried to emulate this style and was famous for her Afro-Latino style shows in Egypt.

    Thanks for posting. Very Interesting to see some of the same movements across other cultures. Also the Zar/ Getting rid of bad spirits through dance section. We are a smaller planet after all.

      Wow, I just watched this clip from link over at "video clip" tribe and commented on Afro/Caribbean moves. It was fun to watch.

      Also, I've been puzzled with some modern belly dancing having the chest heaving up and down which I spotted as having more to do with "African Primitive". Maybe, you've cleared up who started that in Egypt?
