I am designing a program to work with women who are dealing with addiction and recovery (in Mobile, Ala.). I have always heard (and said to my students) that belly dance builds confidence, enhances self-esteem, is therapeutic, etc.
BUT does anyone know for sure if any studies have been done to support this assertion? I would like to know as it would be helpful for me to be able to present this information to the people who are in charge of the programs in which I will work.
Thank you,
ZD

Re: HELP! Looking for formal studies, surveys re belly dance benefits
Mon, September 28, 2009 - 5:05 AMBack many, many years ago when I was completeing my Sociology degree, we read some studies on the benefits of dance in general. You might try starting there and then narrowing your search for belly dance specific studies.
Good Luck,
