Just a little intro here, to explain what I'm trying to accomplish with this artisan tribe thing. I'm really hoping that we can help each other find the venues and connections to advertise and sell our work, and just be as successful as possible. Even though the handful of you that are starting here with me know me really well, I'm going to give a little self-promo here, so please post the same about yourself, what you could benefit from and what you can share with us.
So, having been a decorative painting artist for the last decade, I've begun to expand my horizons (with the intention of phasing out the "faux") and have started an art jewelry business with JB Levine. The company is called Ars Elementi, and we're in the process of developing an inventory to start taking around to craft fairs etc. The website isn't up yet, but we have a shop on Etsy.com at this address:
www.etsy.com/shop.php
Feel free to visit and give us feedback! We could really use information on high traffic/low set-up fee events to exhibit at, as well as local sources for jewelry supply and service. My favorite art-geek resource to share is the East Bay Depot for Creative Reuse, basically its a big artists' junk and thrift store, but it's really a Scavenger's goldmine! Great for people in theater, costuming, found art, and general art-geekery. It's in Oakland/Emeryville on San Pablo Avenue about a block south of Ashby.
Thanks everyone! And please...INVITE MORE ARTISTS!!! Everyone here must know at least one other artist here on tribe!
