      <description>&lt;div&gt;I completed Luscious for the first time today.  Usually, I stop several times and early.  This is not a strenuous workout to say the least, but I'm very happy to see improvement in my cardio.  Off to do some yoga.&lt;/div&gt;

      <description>&lt;div&gt;Today I did 20 mins of sweatin to the oldies volume one.  This evening I did 55 mins of DVD's and worked on the choreography.  I've gotten 2.00 mins of the 3.32 pretty much figured out but that is being refined as I work on the remainder.  I won't do much because its going to be a very long day between work and extra curicular activities.  I go from 7:45 AM to 12:30 Friday morning&lt;/div&gt;

      <description>&lt;div&gt;Worked on my undulations and reverse undulations for about 25 mins.  Then worked on a choreography, specifically the steps.  Finished by dancing 15 mins to music.  Noticed I could hear the top layer rather than the percussion line.  Made a difference in how I danced.&lt;/div&gt;

      <description>&lt;div&gt;45 mins of doing the egyptian combinations on Aradia's DVD and 15 mins of hips up/down/out/in practice. Finally got a transition move down in the sequence.  
&lt;br/&gt;I also realized that I really haven't been working on improving my dancing by focusing on specific things.  I'e been putting whatever DVD on and just following along. One of my resolutions was to put on the DVD's but work on sections by drilling them so they become more second nature.&lt;/div&gt;

      <description>&lt;div&gt;I started a DVD with a choreography but the dance just felt a bit too rushed and not connected with music so I switched to The magnificent moves DVD and worked on the undulation, reverse undualtion with a belly pop inbetween for almost 20 mins.  Then I worked on the same Maqsoum combination from last night and ran it several times.  I finished up with Aradia's egyptian combo #2 and 3.  Took about an hour.&lt;/div&gt;

      <description>&lt;div&gt;even weight trainers don't lift every day
&lt;br/&gt;whats the best thing to do when your muscles are sore and you need a break, but you dont want to fall off the wagon?
&lt;br/&gt;switching to another type of dance video is NOT the solution because thats using the muscles you need to let rest
&lt;br/&gt;any ideas?
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;I was thinking just walking on those days.....&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;br/&gt;whoa!
&lt;br/&gt;I did 50 minutes of in place drills and strength building
&lt;br/&gt;blind folded
&lt;br/&gt;the last 5 minutes I hula hooped
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;ok this is what it does for you
&lt;br/&gt;makes you VERY aware of your head movement
&lt;br/&gt;makes you aware of when you need to tighten the core for balance
&lt;br/&gt;and I really needed to engage the core up at least 1 if not 2 notches to maintain my balance from what I would do normally
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;It did something good for me, Ive been leading all moves with my right wrist. its been mentioned negatively by the instructors in 2 workshops last year. when I really was focusing on the move, and my balance and using the muscles properly my wrist stopped flipping
&lt;br/&gt;cant flip the wrist when you are using that arm as a balance anchor
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;I did hip lifts, slides, shimmies, hip alphabets, fig 8s, and hip circles and arms
&lt;br/&gt;I danced in place a little easy choreo (that was the last thing I did -- talk about messing with balance!)
&lt;br/&gt;I did  various arm curls for delts and back strength, squats, and crunches and belly rolls
&lt;br/&gt;all blind folded, I did open my eyes between for orientation, after the hip lifts I was practically in the book shelf!
&lt;br/&gt;&lt;/div&gt;

      <description>&lt;div&gt;Well I guess I have embraced this with all the enthusiasm of a new lover!
&lt;br/&gt;or
&lt;br/&gt;with your typical belly dancer OCD
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;I actually did my work out FIRST thing this am.
&lt;br/&gt;My 6 year old joined me!
&lt;br/&gt;we did the abs part from Rania's 10 minute quickie
&lt;br/&gt;and the the horizontal slides (2 times cause the kid saw the benefit of repeating) and vertical slides chapters of Neons Instant belly dancer hip work plus dvd--I forgot how much information she actually has on those DVDs
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;I decided this morning I could not face any technique specific vids, so I guess I will proceed with out a specific plan.
&lt;br/&gt;Im just going to play it by ear.
&lt;br/&gt;I do know that when I get to the Raqia Hassan vids, I will most likely do them all in a row, repeating each vid 2 to 3 times&lt;/div&gt;

      <description>&lt;div&gt;Today was my first day
&lt;br/&gt;I followed Princess Farhana's Basic work out, did it almost twice since the entire warm up and technique portion is on 40 minutes. I just repeated a good part of the technique section.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Im trying to decide if I should do all of my basic videos first (also a good way to decide if I really need to keep them) or if I should break the videos into groups of teacher...
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;As it is Im going to have to repeat them several times each, and what a wonderful excuse to have to get new dance videos!&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;br/&gt;Was super fun and very fulfilling !  Discovered that I prefer to veil dance with out gauntlets...I am going to make some matching arm bands for most of my costumes so when I plan on veil.. I just wear them.. the forearm seems to stick =-(&lt;/div&gt;

      <description>&lt;div&gt;Ok I spent from 8:45 to 4:30 today either waiting or travelling.  I am in a hotel and just finished one hour of Michelle Joyce's Belly dance crash course.  I travel again tomorrow so I'm hoping to get my hour worth of dance in before I start travelling.&lt;/div&gt;

      <description>&lt;div&gt;30 minute treadmill program, ribcage and hip alphabets standing and kneeling, and then, took out all the non-classical music I had and began to listen and practice what I could while entering information into QuickBooks.  Discovered that I do prefer much of Light Rain, but enjoy Amr Diab and some re-mix recordings, among others, as they bring out my Snoopy dance side.  Fulfilled my intention of finding practice music.&lt;/div&gt;

      <description>&lt;div&gt;Unfortunately this day has been a toxic experience.  Spent it taking care of an ill family member.  Have most of the house cleaned, but not the kitchen.  The scene of the latest spewing.  Had two shows last night, another tomorrow.    Exhausted &amp;amp; sooooo not in the mood for anything but a hot shower &amp;amp; sleep.  The kitchen awaits...would it be inappropriate to ask Santa for a maid?

      <description>&lt;div&gt;Perhaps yesterday was the bad before the good.  Did a gig tonight with another dancer.  Not a duet.  Two solo dancers, she hadn't heard my music before, nor I hers.  Knowing we would be dancing from the heart gave us wings.  Both sets had zills, cane, &amp;amp; veil. Then just for the heck of it sword.  
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;The audience were an incredible gift.  They clapped, they danced, they cheered,  two of the gentlemen were drummers (unknown to their coworkers until tonight).  They scooped up my zills and took turns rocking the house.  When crowds cut loose and want to have fun, oh what a blast!
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;I am sooooo counting this as dancing for today.  &lt;/div&gt;

      <description>&lt;div&gt;Today I desired elegance, grace, classical, &amp;amp; beautiful.  Zahra Zuhair immediately came to mind.  Wasn't sure I had any of her work; after sifting through I found four videos!  How were they latent so long?  Was I so caught up in the feeding frenzy of the latest flavor that I forgot the elegance of a bella performer?  Thoroughly enjoyed her Oriental Choreography Class from 1996.  &lt;/div&gt;

&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Last night at the old world deli I performed. It felt better then it had in a long time.
&lt;br/&gt;True, I didn't decide to dance until last min- and I was in no way actually prepared- but when I got on stage...
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;It felt better. I recognized a few mistakes, and I will rectify them in practice this week... 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;but better felt good!&lt;/div&gt;

Today was actual dance practice for an hour with Fat Chance. Tribal isn't my main focus so I really had to work at this one. I spend about 40 mins working on a choreography by Martine and 20 mins exploreing the disk Klutz2Diva.  I enjoyed the traveling step section which looked at 8 different steps. I have some important (for me) performances ahead of me and needed to kick my butt in gear badly. I swear I am seeing progress in my shimmies already!

I dare say that I was more elongated and smoother in movements under all the layers of clothing.  half an hour of drills.        &lt;/div&gt;

I kicked off the day with 1.5 hours of ballet yesterday (so proud of myself) then noodled around all day but did Sonia and Issams drum solo DVD late in the evening and shimmied through the parts I found less interesting.

      <title>11-19-08 Hit the Wall</title>

      <description>&lt;div&gt;30 minute program on treadmill. Rib cage and hip alphabets, standing and kneeling.  Watched Samya Gamal, counting her movement and the music to practice what I could with her, and then I hit that sequinless wall.  I watched the tide of music completely recede from my movement.    Today is my ninth day, and the Grumpy Nevers came a'calling and opened that big void, the one where I do not know towards what I am practicing, where I feel too awkward to move.  I sat there, awash and lost, but _I let myself_ not know what to do.  "Ninety days.  Just show up for ninety days.  Nothing more and nothing less."  Compassion for myself can be a rare beverage, and I did my best to savor slowly as I continued to watch Ms. Gamal.               &lt;/div&gt;

      <description>&lt;div&gt;Have been cleaning my room intensly... its horrifying!  One would think a couple of teenagers lived in there!!!! 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;I will now have someplace "out of the way" to do my dvd's!  There is more room in there now that I moved the bed, and did some other modifications! =) 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Today, I am going to do some drillwork on moves that we did in class last night, as well as review and refine "older" moves!&lt;/div&gt;

      <description>&lt;div&gt;Was happily moving along in the 90 day time line.  But yesterday I had the most horrible symptoms.  Fever, chills, body aches, nausea, sans horking thank goodness, but couldn't make a single contribution toward dancing.  Argh!  Starting over today.  &lt;/div&gt;
