My teacher has told us that she's planning to bring Sashi in for a weekend workshop. Anyone else taken a workshop from her?

I did. I really liked it! And I am not a tribal style dancer. actually to her credit, she is not "down" on cabaret like some TF instructors are. Our workshop was prior to a gothic hafli, so the crowd was quite mixed of experienced and new dancers, from different styles. For us, she taught an interactive workshop with a lot of discussion. The theme was "The Spirit of the Dance".

She started out with a little bit of yoga (our organizer requested very little yoga, I think she would have done more otherwise). Then we had a discussion on the archetypes or stories we like to evoke in our dance, or would like to evoke. We talked about how they could be misunderstood/misinterpreted.

We learned a beautiful choreography that was also simple enough that any level could have followed along. The point of the choreography was to think about expressiveness and storytelling, and "the spirit of the dance". We then danced it in small groups and critiqued eachother on emotion, etc. The music she chose was a band called Cinephile and they have become one of my favorite bands thanks to the workshop.

The workshop was all too short! I wish we had more time. At first I was a little intimidated by her, but she was very nice and I overcame that pretty quickly.
