Which song on the many Oriental Fantasy CDs is your most fave? I know, it's really hard to chose. More than one is OK. I totally understand, because I can't decide either :-) All of them? Giggle, giggle, giggle!

Would you like to give us a review of the newest CD? I haven't heard anything from it yet, and my birthday is not until February!

That is a tough one. Let's see, I could say "Raks Mimi" from Vol. 11, or "Hayyarti Albi Maak" (vocal) from Vol. 10, or "Tamerhenna" from Best of Ya Salaam. I think I'll choose "Hayyarti Albi Maak".

It's too hard to chose. I LOVE all of the CDs! When I first heard one CD I never imagined any of the others could be so good, but they all are!

Would anyone know who the musicians are and if there are any original songs written just for Beata and Horacio? I'm sorry if that was a silly question. I don't know much about music other than listening to it.

    PS Any video comments?

I believe that songs, perhaps entire Oriental Fantasy productions, were written for them. I'll have to research it in the morning, though.

Oh, video comments! So many! Oriental Fantasy X, Horacio's solo to (can't think of the song; another project for the morning) - where he is wearing the white costume, goes into a backbend, undulates on the floor and does the more incredible bellyflutter I have ever seen! I took this video to one of my teaching locations last week, and it got stuck in the TV/video player, and tore. I have to see if I can get it repaired.

      More comments later!

TORE, TORE, TORE, did you say your video TORE??? OMG!!! Isn't that the most sickening thing? I've had two tapes get stuck in the same machine. I'm threatening to throw the VHS player away! I don't know why this happens to my most cherished tapes. Other tapes are not affected by this player, darned thing! Oh, I'm so mad.

I think there are video repair shops, but sometimes I wonder if a piece of Scotch tape would work just as well. It does for cassettes, but you do get a "blip" in the sound which I'm sure you would get on the tape as well.

But back to Horacio, the white costume and back bend and flutters sound familiar. If it's the same I was wholly amazed! It was like Horacio did this so effortlessly! Have you seen the drum solo one where he is wearing a blue and gold costume and doing a million super mini chest lifts amongst other incredible movements??? Good heavens! I never knew anyone could do such feats!

PS On a side note, when I mentioned to my husband that Horacio creates and makes Beata's costumes. My husband gasped and said, "He's not a man, he's a GOD!"

Wow! Your husband has it right! My boyfriend won't even watch him dance. Ever see the dark green fringed pants? He says it's those pants - can't watch him now. Guys can be soooo silly.

Most definitely not. They use some folklore songs- that have been around many many years before any of us were born! They also have a good number of Oum Kolsoum songs- written for Oum Kolsoum.
What they DO do is hire musicians to record the songs specifically FOR belly dance, which is lovely.
