San Francisco — Investors hopped excitedly on the trading floor yesterday at Equity when False Profit Records announced the release of Dr. Toast’s new downtempo album, The Wave Function. Many economists, in turn, are now predicting the end of the recession threat.

“We are seeing a massive boost to the Bass industry that’s rippling through the other sectors of the economy,” said Galit Sorokin, Director of Trend Strategies at the newly-formed False Profit Records subsidiary of False Profit, LLC.

Greetings from spiritual technologies...
I am writing to invite you all out out to celebrate my 38th birthday on this Thursday Feb. 28th (my actual birthday) @ shine. My birthday just happened to fall on the Thursdays that my good friend and soul brother Mozaic is doing his new monthly at shine "MIXTAPE" I will be closing out the night around 1:00am and in the style of my interpretation of "mixtape" will be playing and extra eclectic set retrospecting my 24 years as a dj. DownLow was born almost three years ago out of little more than a
Toxic Beach, a sound system and a big bus. Since then the DL crew has
been known for their meticulous execution in pioneering numerous
unique outdoor renegade spots and epic parties that don't stop until
you fall over. Clearly contributing to the falling over is the
dastardly DJing of DownLow selectors Alxndr & PiotroN.

Alxndr plays a dance-floor friendly mix of music: tribal atmospheric
grandma grime, epic tibetan robot dub, kosher poetic neuro-bleeptech,
with the occasional underground muffinbeat thrown in for good measure.
[Thanks to Dr. Toast for his hilarious genre generator]. As for
PiotroN, over the past year he has been shifting in a slightly
different direction, away from some of the darker electro and into a
gray area where many of his favorite genres hold hands, skip, hop,
glitch, and play. Cultivating a sound that only Dr. Toast's genre
generator could describe but somehow sounding almost nothing like

It's been a long time since we've had Uberzone play at one of our shows (Dec. '05), and it's been even longer since Uberzone has released a full-length album (2001). And to top it off, he's going to be performing a live set for us!!

The word "wraith" is first attested in 1513, with the meaning of "ghost or spectre" (that is, an apparition of a living or once-living being, possibly as a portent of death). In 18th century Scotland it was applied to aquatic spirits. Over time, it came to be used in a metaphoric sense to refer to wraith-like things, and to portents in general.

The word may be of Scots origin, possibly through Old Norse vörðr, meaning "guardian" (cf. the Modern English cognates "ward" and "warden"), and related to[citation needed] Irish arrach, meaning "apparition". An association with the verb "writhe" has also been claimed. Philologist and fantasy author J. R. R. Tolkien held this view [1], and his use of the word in the naming of the creatures known as the Ringwraiths has influenced creators of fantasy and horror novels, television shows, and games, who use it with its meaning of a shadow-thing, a spirit of another world, or more generally a mysterious being to be feared.

The wraith is a being of power, controlled by a greater spirit to do the creatures will. These creatures are shadows, floating amongst our realm with no purpose but that of their masters. They feed on humans, their emotions and their own strength, without these they would cease to exist. Information considering their lesser known qualities is difficult to obtain.

The classic depiction of a wraith is identical to the image of a tall, humanoid figure shrouded in a black cloak, under which no face can be seen, though a hand protrudes. The word "wraith" is also used in modern fiction to signify the shifting wraiths of T.A. Barron's book series The Lost Years of Merlin and the mortiwraiths of Wayne Thomas Batson's The Door Within Trilogy. Whereas the shifting wraith is a bestial, snake-like predator able to change itself into the form of any animal, albeit always having a feature uncharacteristic thereof, the mortiwraith is an anthropomorphically intelligent, gigantic, cave-dwelling, but also snake-like predator having creased, furry ears, poisonous blood, and many clawed legs whose quantity increases with the passage of every five years. The use of the word "wraith" for either of these is not explained by either author in the respective story.

In European pagan beliefs, the wraith is seen as a spirit of vengeance. They are said to be ghostly figures with long, sharp fingers. Wraiths are considered rare amongst the spirit realm, for they consist of pure revenge; yet not all wraiths will be truly vengeful, in that some are merely enraged to the extent of destroying anything they encounter.

Faction is Yair Etziony and Rani Golan from Israel. Highlighting their musical alienation from the mainstream of their immediate environment, the music of Faction is all about subtle warm textures and the sublime, with a lot of nostalgic love of 80’s and early 90’s sounds. Yair Etziony (aka Vermont) is a producer and a DJ and is about to release a full album for the Japanese label Spekk later this year. Rani Golan (aka Smalltalk) was a member of rock groups in the 90’s and has been working as designer\programmer and sound technician since. Their first release was the album "The End Of Tel Aviv" on the Neo Ouija label.

Cheju is Wil Bolton, UK-based producer of experimental melodic electronica and co-owner of Boltfish Recordings. He has released albums on U-Cover, Unlabel, En:peg and Filament, and EPs on Boltfish, Rednetic, Static Caravan, Smallfish, October Man, Herb and others.

Nalepa armed with his analog synths, Ableton Live, and an arsenal of effects, Steve Nalepa crafts songs by fusing together deep dub bass, glitchy breaks, bioacoustic atmospheres and beautiful sinewave melodies. Based in LA, he is a producer, keyboardist, sound designer and programmer who has collaborated with world-renowned artists from across the musical spectrum including Bill Laswell, Pharoah Sanders, Lili Haydn, George Clinton and the LA Philharmonic. Nalepa's double disc Flatlands is forthcoming on Native State Records in September 2007. The CD is packed with 15 remixes from world-class electronic musicians and the DVD features a formidable roster of video artists and 5.1 mixes of the album's original tracks.

tuesday again - Ooah
Ooah is the subsonic scientist Josh Mayer of the West Coast’s Glitch Mob and The Seedling Escape. Aka the Mob Boss, Ooah brews audio concoctions consisting of banging drum beats that range anywhere from eighty-five to one hundred and ten beats per minute, squishy gut-wrenching bass frequencies, harmonic poly-rhythmic melodies and bloopy bleepy clicks and clacks. Some might know this madman for his outstanding turntablism, others for his highly energetic and
consistently danceable hybrid dj/live laptop sets.

reverse engineering - Radiate
Radiate is the new collaborative project from Seb Taylor & NIck Edell. As an Interchill DJ, Nick brings his minimal IDM sensibilities to the forefront, with an emphasis on found sound. Seb’s recent forays into the glitch-downbeat genre (on recent tracks under the Hibernation moniker) serve as a basis for the Radiate sound.

Tripglitch is a new project by Nick Brennan aka Tripswitch. Nick has been involved in the music industry for many years, having co-run a commercial recording studio in London in the late 90's. A renowned chillout DJ and producer, Nick's 'Tripswitch' project has seen widespread critical acclaim and established his place in the A-list of downtempo electronic artists. As well as a long list of compilation inclusions, including selection by the likes of Jose Padilla (Cafe del Mar), Claude Challe (Buddha Bar) and Nick Warren (Way Out West / Global Underground), Nick's 2005 debut long-player 'Circuit Breaker', released on Youth's Liquid Sound Design label, was hailed as a classic in its genre. The album is to be re-released in June 07 with a brand new CD of remixes from the likes of Gaudi, Manasseh, Eat Static, Youth vs Subsonar, Mirror System and Shiloh. A brand new album is also due for release later in the year.

Chaos By Design is another of Seb Taylor’s numerous projects, this time focusing on a more drum & bass, liquid funk infuenced sound. The first Chaos by Design tracks were released many moons ago on the cult trance/breaks crossover Label 21:3 one of the first labels to experiment in such music. This track 'Immerse' sees a welcome return by Seb to this sonic style.

San Francisco - Neurochemists at the Center for Applied Vibes—a division of False Profit, LLC—have just announced the discovery of a new element. They are calling it, Avant.

Unlike any other element on the periodic table, Avant has no atomic mass, which places it first on the table, above hydrogen.

“We were baffled because we couldn’t see it,” said Calli Beck, Director of Intimate Observation. “But of course we couldn’t see it. It’s weightless. Avant is not observable. It’s sensational.”

Avant was discovered when several different pleasures were smashed together at high speeds in False Profit’s giant Circular Joy Collider. The company was tight-lipped about which Joys were utilized, however, every scientist I talked to appeared to have chocolate smudges on their lips and berry stains on their lab coats. There were also several empty bottles of wine strewn about the lab. And they were all humming pleasurable music rarely heard in San Francisco.

What also sets Avant apart from other newly discovered elements is that it is useful.

“I stayed up all night studying Avant, and I feel wonderful,” said Director of Chill Studies, Andrea Brooks. “It’s not anything like Einsteinium or Californium, which are highly radioactive and tend to make you groggy.”

False Profit revealed that they’ve been trying to produce this new element for several years now, but when asked what changed for them, VP of Recreational Therapy, Nevada Valentine had only this to say: “We were on the verge of discovery when a Senior Vibrational Analyst from Symbiosis Labs phoned us with a critical piece of information.”

Valentine called that critical information a “trade secret”.

No one at Symbiosis was available for comment because they are all busy tweaking their signature product, the Symbiosis Gathering—set for release on September 20-24 at their headquarters in Northern California.

The weekend before, on Saturday, September 15th at the SomArts Center in San Francisco, Avant, the newest element to the periodic table will be unveiled. False Profit reminds all investors that Avant cannot actually be seen, only experienced.

False Profit, LLC has invited everyone to participate in their continuing study of the ‘More’ impulse at the Poleng Lounge, this coming Thursday, June 28th. There is no placebo group.

Newly-released the results of a three-year study entitled “Inner Ear Neural Linkage to the ‘More’ Impulse” challenge the widely held belief that people desire money.

The study revealed that the ‘More’ impulse is actually the result of rapid neuron firings in the inner ear. “Quite simply,” said Alison Bank, a Senior Researcher for False Profit, LLC, “it’s all about the Bass. Or more accurately, about more Bass.”

if u haven't heard myself or many others bumping his original tracks on soundsystems at festivals where people are losing their minds over the past year, then u may have heard him at some underground events lately making people lose their minds. either way the verdict is...this shit is highly contagious.
myself (kitty-d) will be playing a little more than i have been lately at this church and will be dropping fresh music to test out. Neptune will be dropping eclectic beauty and folks will be drinking mojitos and tequila shots as we celebrate our new location that has been feeling quite nice for us lately. we'll be getting the night going a little early this time so try to make it down to get the dancefloor started and the magic flowing. i will talk to the manager and see if i can get some drink specials lined up for earlybirds (cuz i know y'all don't show up 'till midnight most of the time).
