    I'm going to repeat my back-up idea -- to stay out at Ocean Beach one night. We did it for a few Cheese NYEs, when we flew in from NYC... maybe just the first night, or the last night, to get some "chill" space from the City. There's a couple of motel-hotel-cumHolidazeInns at Judah and 48th (La Playa), and you can hop on the N-Judah streetcar towards the Mission.
    
    But I guess the San Diego crowd already gets a huge dose of ocean! : )

      I live at Ocean Beach EVERY NIGHT! :) It's just south Ocean Beach.... way way waaaaaay south. And here, we call it OB! ;-)
