Hey all! I am going on a musical adventure and I would love for all of you to come along. I am blessed to be playing music with The Trespassers from Yosemite for this magical tour. We are playing at the CT Yankee in SF on friday, january 11th, Schanachie's Pub in Willits on Monday, january 14th, Humbrew's in Arcata on Wednesday, january 16th opening for Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band, and Thursday, january 17th in Nevada City at Cooper's. The Turtles will follow at Cooper's on the 18th and 19th. I would be so honored to see all of you there!

IZABELLA was born out of years of musical connections. Like many bands before, and many yet to come, the search for new music is what ultimately brings these musicians together. The love of the improvisational/jam community is what drives and inspires them to push forward. Sean Lehe (guitar/vocals), Lucas Carlton (drums) and Murph (bass/guitar) spent four years recording and touring with Bay Area jamband, Home At Last. With a desire for a fresh start, the trio decided in the spring of 2006 to branch out with a new face and renewed sense of purpose. After years of networking in the scene, close connections were made with some of the most talented players around. As a result, the trio has grown to a six-piece machine following a musical merger with Sacramento based “Four Guys From Reno”. The Sacramento boys bring the soulful energy of Brian Rogers (vocals/bass/percussion/guitar) the blissful embellishments of Andre Fylling (keyboards/vocals) and the chunky funk of Sam Phelps (bass/guitar/keys/vocals). Brian, Andre and Sam have been musical brothers since High School and have already created an impressive legacy of solo recordings.

The intent of this group is to develop a musical space that is exploratory, challenging AND accessible. Inspired genre-bending songwriting, danceable energy, and emotive vocals are the key ingredients toward this end. No musical experience, however, is complete without strong community. As IZABELLA was born from musical connections, so will it thrive and grow with positive connections made in the community.

The IZABELLA boys are currently finishing up their second official studio release, "In the West", to be released this fall. The first release, "Dream When You Sleep", was recently picked up for distribution in Japan by Grey Dog's Records.

Who are the Monophonics?

They are this Sausome band I discovered at Tortugas! Couldn't stop shakin' my tail feathers the whole set!

Here's what Jambase says about them. Wish I could write about music like this:

Monophonics' sound, a unique blend of deep funk and rare groove, began in the summer of 2005 when Vinyl, a popular Bay Area based band, asked drummer Austin Bohlman to bring together a group to open for Vinyl's show at San Francisco’s historic Boom Boom Room specifically asking for "the funkiest dudes you know!". Said and done!
Monophonics is now evolving into one of the premier live instrumental funk bands in the Bay Area. Recognized frequently for their young talent, in only their first year of playing together, Monophonics' musicians have already collaborated and performed with numerous big acts.

The Monophonic Horns have played with Russell Batiste and his Orchestra from Da Hood (members of Galactic, Papa Grows Funk, The Funky Meters) and Eric Krasno (Soulive/Lettuce). Other members of Monophonics have done work for such acts as E40, Luna Angel, FourOneFunk and Archie Bell.

Monophonics' soulful, instrumental material is inspired primarily by late 60’s and early 70’s funk and rare groove performed by artists like The Meters, Herbie Hancock, The Crusaders, Tower of Power, and Grant Green.

These young heavy-hitters are working hard to spread live, instrumental dance music as well as represent and continue the tradition of California/Bay Area soul, jazz and funk.
