One of the definitions of freedom is "frankness of manner and speech"
How have you spoke your truth and created freedom?

Re: What is it to be Free?
Mon, September 3, 2007 - 7:45 PMBurning Man gave me the space to feel really free.
I felt more myself there than I can remember. I felt free to make mistakes, free to learn at my own speed, free to just be.
I think that the people I encountered matched the description of freedom being frankness. It was refreshing and energizing, inspiring and nourishing.
Now to keep that mentality for the rest of the year.

Sat, December 15, 2007 - 2:31 AMHello Anne,
Freedom is Love. Love is Free, it has no conditions, no fear based ways to control or manipulate. Speaking TheTruth is speaking from Love with the same tenants of freedom. It seeks to "set you free" when in pain or fear.
Loving...Will.

Re: What is it to be Free?
Sat, January 5, 2008 - 11:39 AMHi Anna and all:
Glad I found this tribe ( I'm new to Tribe and at the moment the system won't let me add info to my profile due to a system error )!
I've been studying the idea of freedom, truth and love now for about 20 years. I love to bury myself in the thoughts, ideas, and manifestations of freedom... from very formalized ideologies such as the buddaistic view ( freedom from attachment, and even ultimate freedom from existance itself )... to the more controversial aspects, such as the gluttony and hedonism of Aleister Crowley.
As an abstract theoriest myself ( one of my eccentric loves which has very little practical value!!! ) there are two ideas that center around freedom:
Freedom FROM and Freedom TO.
The more one is free from, the more one is free to.
The more one freely DOES, the less one if free FROM, the less one is free to. This is a very taoist concept which forms a beautiful spiral that can be seen in our lives.
I personally would like to be free from the base instincts so that I may be free to pursue higher ideals; free from bondage to self so that I may experience a greater oneness with everything.
The hard earned wisdom that we eventually hopefully reach is knowing what we need to be free from, and knowing what we truly desire to be free to...do.
