For those of you who don't know, Theresi P is a vendor here on Tribe, based out of San Fransisco, who recently had to close her physical shop due to medical (& therefore financial) issues. She is a single mom who is having to liquidate most of her inventory at below cost, simply to try to get some cash flow, any cash flow, going again. For the whole story, you can go here: tribes.tribe.net/monsoonva...0a07a7964a
Here's where I come in... A few weeks ago, I purchased a child-sized embroidered choli from her so that I could cover an emBELLIshment Bra Base with it & sell it. Then I found out what has gone on in her life the past several months, and I figure that I could do something else instead. I am going to cover a bra with it still, but then I was thinking I could auction it off on eBay & give all of the proceeds to Theresi to help her out. I figure, she could use the money & I can spare it, so why not?
My question to all of you is -- what size should I make the bra? That's the only hitch -- should I do a "custom order" & the winner can pick their size (which means there would be no pictures, obviously, of a final product for the auction...only pics of the fabric & examples of the bra bases). Or do I go ahead & just pick a size (like 40D -- which then meas that anyone in the range of 38D-DD, 40C-D & 42B-C could wear it -- but that obviously then limits my bidding base)?
What do you think?

Re: A question about sizes
Tue, July 28, 2009 - 1:37 PMIs there any way you can just pin the fabric to show a general idea instead of actually covering one? I think it would be better to do a free size auction. -

Tue, July 28, 2009 - 2:31 PMThat's an idea I hadn't thought of.... hmm.... Don't see why not...

Re: A question about sizes
Tue, July 28, 2009 - 2:33 PMAnd your emBELLIshments are too new for you to know a median size or a most popular size…
I'm really not a good one to weigh in on this one… I don't use eBay and I probably won't have the money.
I would almost suggest whatever you think is the most common size that IS NOT available from most vendors. That's a lot of what sets you apart from everyone else, you're making things for the sizes everyone else doesn't cover.
Just my 2 cents.

Thu, July 30, 2009 - 12:17 PMI'd go with pinning it to give a general idea and let the winner choose her size. -

Re: A question about sizes
Mon, August 3, 2009 - 6:05 PMWhat about just posting an assortment of your other works as examples then with the stipulation that piece is custom and not available for immediate shipping as it will be made after measurements are provided. You could include a photo of the fabric you plan to use. -

Re: A question about sizes
Mon, August 3, 2009 - 6:09 PMThat's one of the two options I'm debating above.
