Ok, so you bought a piece of PVC or wooden dowel from the hardware store for your Saidi cane number. It is cut to length, very affordable, but, unfortunately not pretty. How do you decorate it to match your costume?
I used my decorative hula-hoop tape!
Here's where to order hula-hoop tape. My favorites are gaffer tape and metallic tape.

Re: Decorating A Plain Saidi Cane
Tue, March 18, 2008 - 5:47 PMYes! Spray paint the dowel rod, then wrap it with a sequined trim from the fabric store, glueing in strategic points as you go. I taught a 6 week session on Saiidi last summer to my intermediates and we had a cane decorating party. Or course alcohol needs to be involed. :) -

DRINKING, DANCING & DEADLY DOWELS: ALL THAT GLITTERS IS NOT GOLD
Richmond, VA - Seven local Middle Eastern dance enthusiasts were found this morning in a Northside home, each enigmatically bludgeoned to death. Henrico County police authorities are baffled by the total lack of evidence of an outside intruder and by the fact that all seven murder weapons were left at the crime scene. Several dozen empty Tecate cans suggest that alcohol may have been a factor. -
