in bruxelles midi/south/zuid, take METRO line 2, in the direction of "Simonis". change at "Arts Loi/Kunst-Wet" to line 1B in the direction of "Stokkel", and get of at "Kraainem".

the sports centrum is a minute on foot from the Metrostation (get out of the building, turn to the left, at the pizzahut turn left right next to he building (footpath) and cross the parking lot, the sportcentre is opposite the parking lot).

other options: Taxi would cost about 6E from the train station

Busses (busstation right next to trainstation): 284 285 and 630 all go there. ask the busdriver for the stop "Philipssite". and then you cant miss the building (big round modern building).

Ik kreeg net onderstaand mailtje toegestuurd. Moesten er buikdansers of danseressen geïnteresseerd zijn om mee te doen...

< Na het succes van de eerste "Supertalent in Vlaanderen" op VT4 vorig jaar is het productiehuis Fremantlemedia (gekend ondermeer ook van Idool en X-Factor) bezig met het opstarten van een tweede 'supertalentenjacht'.

Omdat we zoveel mogelijk talent willen aanspreken, richten we ons ook tot het verenigingsleven en tot culturele organisaties.

Mogen wij u daarom vragen om onderstaande boodschap en flyer in bijlage te verspreiden onder uw leden?

"Supertalent in Vlaanderen" is de ideale kans voor artiesten om hun talent voor een groot televisiepubliek te etaleren. Tevens maken zij ook kans op de fantastische geldprijs van 50.000 euro, die wordt uitgereikt aan de performer die kijkend Vlaanderen het meest kan beklijven.

We richten ons tot alle mogelijke vormen van talent en meer in het bijzonder ook tot die mensen die in de klassieke talentenwedstrijden op tv minder vaak aan bod komen.

Hoe de deelnemende artiesten hun talent willen tonen aan Vlaanderen (hoe ze hun act m.a.w. invullen), laten we volledig over aan hun creativiteit. Alles kan en alles mag, zolang het maar leuk is om naar te kijken en/of te luisteren. Elke act is dus welkom (zang, muziek, dans, comedy, theater, improvisatie, circusact, acrobatie, sportdemonstratie, bloemschikken, (toegepaste) kunst, culinair talent (wijnkenners bijv.), human art en andere visuele acts, goochelact, …)

Wie denkt niet over een aangeboren talent te beschikken, die verwijzen we graag door naar onderstaande filmpjes (zij kunnen als inspiratiebron dienen):

Omdat we iedereen een kans willen geven om zich te bewijzen, is de tijd voor het opvoeren van de act beperkt. Voor elke artiest zijn ongeveer drie minuten voorzien om zijn / haar act op te voeren.

De opnames van de selectieronde vinden plaats voor een live publiek.

Er is nog geen exacte timing gekend. Wat we wel al kunnen meegeven, is dat de opnames van die selectieronde voorzien zijn voor de periode juni - juli.

Inschrijven kan best zo snel mogelijk. We verzamelen sowieso tegen eind mei alle inschrijvingen voor “Supertalent in Vlaanderen”. Alle inschrijvingen zijn tegen dan best in ons bezit.

Workshop Drills 'n Zills, Utrecht, the Netherlands

Hey Ladies!

As I am guessing; you like to drill the moves until your body can actually do them while you are on the phone with your girlfriend?
Then my Drill / Shimmy workshops might be for u!

On sunday July 6 (13.00 - 14.30) I will teach a workshop on shimmy's with the Suhaila drillin' technique. 1,5 hour butt work-out!
We will do the exersises on the floor, in the circle and with chasse's pas de bouree's and grapevines. And ofcourse more shimmy's to vary. No choreography this time.

After that a workshop on Zills for all level's (15.00 - 16.30). We will look at the underlying basic technique so you can develop you zills-skills at home and combine them with your favorite steps. Lot's of Playing & Dancing.

The workshops will focus on your technique and abilities, not on you personal unique style, so bellydancers as well as tribal fusion dancers will enjoy this!

The workshops are in Utrecht at the Dansvloer.

Heb je nog nooit met een sluier gedanst? Probeerde je het al, maar ben je nog niet zeker of het je wel leuk vind? Of dans je integendeel al jaren en is de sluier ook jouw favoriete prop? Artemisia is in België en ver buiten de grenzen gekend voor haar magie met de zijden sluier. In deze workshop deelt ze haar aanpak, visie en... natuurlijk ook haar "trukkendoos". No secrets! Deze workshops is zowel geschikt voor de absolute beginner als voor de gevorderde danseres op zoek naar iets nieuw.
Breng liefst je eigen sluier mee (als je die hebt is een rechthoekige in zijde ideaal), voor beginners zijn er ook uitleenexemplaren voorzien.

GRAND HAFLA with RAZIA

on 26-27th of april American Bellydancer Razia will be teaching workshops in Leuven. The sunday workshops are full, but there are still some spaces for saturday (check www.emotionvzw.be for info and enrollments)

but what would a workshop weekend be without some dancing and a show!

therefore, on saturday 26th of april Nicole and Artemisia are organising a GRAND HAFLA at Au Ryad in Brussels (just next to brussels south so you can also get here by train if you want). I've asked Razia to dance for us what she would usually do in a restaurant or night club in her home town in the US: the full deal american cabaret routine. we alwalys here about it, now we can see it!

This is a hand made costume. Both bra and belt are lined. The bra is very sturdy will hold it's shape well.The bra will fit a 36-38 B/C. This costume will work great for new students, hobbyist class recitals, parties, Goth night, belly fusion, photos, and performances.
This is an original one of a kind costume.

The bra will fit a 36-38 B/C. The bra cups are covered in a blue velvet panne' fabric. The bra is trimmed in a brown gimp trim about an inch wide, with a navy blue border. Beneath the trim is a belled and coined chain. At the center of the bra is an O-ring with a chain with bells attached. The side panels and the straps are made from the same fabric that covers the bra cups. The bra ties across the back kris- cross with D-rings. the bra straps are 48 inches long.

The belt is cover in the same fabric as the bra.This belt will fit a M-L(about up to a 14 in pant size and can be shortened) . The belt also has also has the same brown trim with the navy blue border. The belt is 37 inches long not including the tie ends. The tie ends are 18 inches long. The belt can be shortened if needed before it is shipped.The belt also has 3 Afghani pendants on it . 2 small silver ones and one large multi colored one at the center in the back. The ribbon fringe is made up of various yarns, lace, gimp trim and ribbon in various colors of blues and browns. On each side of the belt is there are silver belled and coined chain for sound and movement.
As stated before this is a one of a kind of original piece of wearable art

Work It, Girl (or Guy)!: A Day of Technique Building, Body Creativity and Conditioning for the Tribal Fusion Dancer. (all levels!)

Come and enjoy this intense (and fun) workout! This class is designed for any level of dancer who wishes to push themselves in the realms of strength, flexibility and endurance. Using a variety of movement methods, we will condition and tone the muscles that we rely on most as bellydancers, emphasizing healthy alignment of the spine and joints. After a warm-up and mat session, we will then rock out with technique-focused drills that get the rhythm in our bodies and our blood pumpin! This body-warming class will culminate in fresh dance combinations! Bring a yoga mat or a towel, a hip scarf and water bottle (preferably full).

10-13h Weaving it Together: Technique-Focused Dance Combinations.

In this class we will not only work on honing our dance technique, we will put it to good use as we put those moves we have drilled ever so faithfully! We will learn and create some fun combinations that can be incorporated into your own repertoire, keeping strong muscular skill and alignment well in hand so the creative juices are free to flow! As we weave our moves into combos, we shall then weave the combos into a choreography to take with us! This class is fun and appropriate for all levels of Tribal-flavored dancer, and those new to Tribal Style are encouraged to give it a try. Some Bellydance experience is recommended. Please wear exercise-friendly clothes and bring something to tie around your hips!

Bear Hides and Buffalo: A Slightly Strange Tribal Fusion Choreography.

This is an all-levels class that allows us to explore the more Avante-garde side of bellydance. After a warm up and short drill session, we'll integrate Tribal Fusion bellydance moves with some unexpected twists, borrowed from classical dance and beyond. Some experience is great, but adventurous beginners are encouraged to give it a whirl. Comfy stretchy dance clothes are always a good idea.

we took two workshops, (with the fabulous Randa and with star male dancer Kazafy) went to see several shows (from the very low end to the very very high end) , we saw the piramids, and for some of us it was alwso a shopping extra vaganza (costumes, shoes, !) , the next holiday promises to be just as good, with lots of variation, and flexibility cairo-style!

Let op!!! Nieuwe locatie voor het Benefiet voor NEMA op zaterdag 10 mei Wereldbuikdansdag

Lieve mensen,

In één dag 10 slagen grijzer

Afgelopen vrijdag zou Luc, namens de organistie van het Benefiet voor NEMA in het kader van Wereldbuikdansdag, een gespek met de eigenaar van de locatie hebben om de laatste puntjes op de i te zetten.

Wat er is gebeurd zal een vraagteken blijven, maar de man ontving hem zeer kwaad met de mededeling dat hij "een dergelijk evenement"?? niet langer wilde huisvesten. De toegang werd ontzegd, zonder duidelijke opgaaf van redenen en zij die vervolgens hebben geprobeerd te bellen met de eigenaar ondervonden na melding waarvoor er werd gebeld het onmiddelijk afbreken van de verbinding.
Hoe gek kun je het meemaken!.

De posters en flyers zijn de deur uit. Alles rond. Een prachtig programma, wat vandaag gepubliceerd zou gaan worden. De leden van NEMA allen uitgenodigd. We zouden een geweldige dag tegemoet gaan........
Drie weken vóór het benefiet evenement en dan géén zaal! Paniek.

De goden zijn ons, de doelstellingen van Wereldbuikdansdag én ons benefiet evenement echter wonderlijk goed gezind, gisteravond is er een andere locatie met prachtige faciliteiten gevonden!!!!!

Nieuw adres: Dancing Kempenhof, Bert Leysenlaan 20, Balen. België. (note: vlak bij Mol, de oude locatie, gelegen).

Groot voordeel van de nieuwe locatie is dat het, in tegenstelling tot de vorige, op korte loopafstand van het station is gelegen.

Komende vanaf station:
Het station ligt in de Stationsstraat helemaal rechts-onder. Dan de Alfons Dierckxstraat nemen, vervolgens de Vaartstraat, naar links gaan en na enkele honderden meters is de Bert Leysenlaan aan de rechterkant.

Treinverbinding:
Komende van Hasselt moeten de spoorreizigers de trein richting Mol nemen en dan de halte VOOR Mol afstappen.
Komende van Antwerpen neem je de trein naar Neerpelt. Dan moet de reiziger even opletten: OFWEL moet hij in Mol overstappen op de trein naar Hasselt en stapt hij een halte verder, in Balen af. OFWEL is het vanaf Antwerpen al één trein en wordt die in Mol gesplitst. De reiziger vraagt dan best aan de treinbegeleider of hij in het stuk zit dat naar Hasselt rijdt. Heel belangrijk!!! Of je komt in Neerpelt uit!!!.
Aangezien het zaterdag is, wordt het station van Balen slechts om DE TWEE uur aangedaan. De verbinding van Antwerpen tot Mol is om het uur.

Voor hen die met de auto komen is er een ruime parkeergelegenheid voorzien.

Goed lieve mensen, de schrik weer te boven, Het evenement gaat gelukkig gewoon door, maar daarmee zijn we er nog niet.

Natuurlijk wordt iedere deelnemer (dansers, team, standhouders etc.) persoonlijk van het nieuwe adres op de hoogte gesteld.

De download flyer op www.orientalmagic.eu wordt aangepast.(Dus even niet beschikbaar).

Het is te laat om nog nieuwe flyers te drukken en verspreiden. Dus een oproep aan ieder die al flyers heeft ontvangen om het adres aan te willen passen. Hartelijk dank alvast !!! voor deze te nemen moeite.

Voor hen die dit lezen en van plan waren te komen geef het door!!
We hebben ook jullie hulp nu even nodig.
Ik moet er niet aan denken als er straks voor de "verkeerde deur" wordt gestaan.

Dit is een bizarre en onvoorziene omstandigheid en mag niet ten kosten gaan van dit Benefiet evenement én van het "Wereld Buikdansdag" gevoel.

In het kader van Wereld Buikdansdag zal op zaterdag 10 mei 2008 een benefiet worden gehouden ten behoeven van en ten baten van NEMA. (vereniging voor mensen met een NEuro Musculaire Aandoening).

Locatie: ‘De Kaasboerin’, Eerselseweg 99 te Mol. België (vanuit Nederland gezien 200 meter over de grens).

tijd: van 14.00 tot 24.00 uur.

Programma:

van 14.30 tot 16.30 zullen er diverse workshops worden gegeven die vrij kunnen worden bezocht.

Er zal ook een speciaal aangepaste workshop worden gegeven voor de leden van NEMA, hun begeleiders en genodigden, waaraan ook belangstellende bezoekers zullen kunnen deelnemen.

van 17.00 uur tot 18.00 uur een dansshow.

van 19.00 uur tot 20.00 uur een tweede dansshow.

van 20.30 tot 24.00 uur een feestelijke dansavond om de wereldwijde verbondenheid in de dans te vieren op deze Wereld Buikdansdag.

de hele dag zal er een gezellige Souk te bezoeken zijn.

Entré: Euro 10,-- p.p. all in. (workshops, shows, dansavond en toegang Souk).
Kaartverkoop aan de zaal, geen reservering mogelijk.

De leden van NEMA zullen de gehele dag aanwezig zijn en met en door alle activiteiten in het zonnetje worden gezet met een echte verwendag.

Daarnaast zullen alle baten van deze dag hen toekomen.

Leuk detail: er is een overdekt en indien nodig verwarmd terras en voor bezoekende kinderen is er een mooie speeltuin aanwezig.

Kom dus op zaterdag 10 mei naar "de Kaasboerin" in Mol en maak door het samen genieten van dans tijdens deze Wereld Buikdansdag een droom waar voor NEMA.

Nadere informatie over de geboden workshops en de dansers die de shows inhoud zullen gaan geven zal spoedig bekend worden gemaakt in het definitieve programma.

Er is nog ruimte voor één workshop en natuurlijk kan men zich ook nog opgeven om deel te nemen aan de shows. Er wordt geen onderscheid gemaakt tussen beroepsmatige en niet beroepsmatige danser(s)essen. Voor deelnemende dansers zal er in de pauze tussen beiden shows in een lichte maaltijd worden voorzien. Natuurlijk is ruime kleedruimte aanwezig. Deelnemende dansers betalen geen entré, verder worden er geen vergoedingen verstrekt.

maybe Bonn is close enough to the Belgian bellydance-sphere? Aladin el-Kholy in Bonn organizes a workshop with the fantabulous Lulu Sabongi from Brazil on the 15./16. of March. I know this is short notice I didn't know about it til yesterday. I contacted Aladin and he told me that he has yet so many free places...
Lulu is scheduled on saturday with oriental-latin for advanced/master and with classical Egyptian for advanced/intermediate on sunday. The prices are 45€ for one and 85€ for two workshops.

This is a hand made costume. Both bra and belt are lined. The bra is very sturdy will hold it's shape well.The bra will fit a 32-34 A/B. This costume will work great for new students, hobbyist class recitals, parties, Goth night, belly fusion, photos, and performances.
This is an original one of a kind costume.

The bra will fit a 32-34 A/B. The bra is covered in a teal velvet panne' fabric. The bra is trimmed in a brown gimp trim about an inch wide, . Beneath the trim is a row of the tribal metal fringe. At the center of the bra is button ornament with a few dangle. The side panels and the straps are made from the same fabric that covers the bra cups. The bra ties across the back kris- cross with D-rings. The bra straps are 37 inches long.

The belt is cover in the same fabric as the bra.This belt 35 inches long not including the tie ends.This belt can be shorten before it is sent if needed. The tie ends are 15 inches long..The belt also has the same brown trim as on the bra .Below the trim are 7 dangle buttons. The ribbon fringe is made up of mixture of teal and brown yarn thick in texture in three groupings . Between each grouping of yarn fringe is a belled chain for added movement and sound.
As stated before this is a one of a kind piece of wearable art . The colors are very pretty and has really good movement to it

Carolena and Megha will be teaching for 3 days, more than 13 hrs during Gathering of The Tribes event in August, 2-4.

The goal of the event is to get tribal dancers from all over the Europe together, share their love for this danceform and create new contacts. Why not just to group together, combine the yearly vacation with a great possibility to dance with Megha and Carolena in "exotic" country like Finland?

The price of the WS is 200 euro - that makes about 15 euro/hour. Or the whole package including training and accommodation for 4 nights in the beautiful environment close to lake, including breakfasts, transportation to the place where the classes are held - and back, only 470 euro. Being comparing the prices I can say it's far more cheaper than any event around this topic in Europe this year. Workshop prices are normally around 20 euro/ hour and accommodation with workshops for the 4 nights can be 769 euro this very day. Improve your hip and belly work with Razia's 3D Core technique drills, and learn how to give texture and depth to your isolations. Razia will share her tips for safe and easy level-changes as well!

Sunday 27th april (14-16h) Drum Solo Choreography
Learn a short-'n'-sassy drum solo choreography, featuring exciting shimmy layers, dynamic accents, folkloric flavors, and loads of attitude! An excellent addition to your performance repertoire! Choreography will use "Solo Tabla 1" from Ya Bahaia.

History, language, music and dance of the Macedonian Rroma
May 1st to 8th, 2008

This may I am taking you to the biggest rromani community in Europe : Suto Orizari. Almost 60 000 people live in this small city near Skopje, all Rroma from different parts of the Balkans, especially Macedonia, Kosovo and Turkey. The goal of this trip is to make you discover the life of this people, where they come from, what is the language they speak, how they decorate their houses, what is their everyday's life, how big part takes music and dance in it and what looks like a traditional rroma festivity.

The programme :

- Rromani dance lessons by local rromani dancers and Simona Jovic
(lessons accompanied by the musicians - dances of the Balkans and Turkey

- History of the Rroma presented by Ljatif Demir
(Author of "History of the Rroma" and expert and translator for the rromani language)

- Basic exressions in the rromani language by Ljatif Demir
(Author of "History of the Rroma" and expert and translator for the rromani language)

- Rromani music classes - clarinet, derbouka, accordeon and other instruments (not included in the tour price)

- Ederlezi celebration in Suto Orizari

Suhaila in the Netherlands

Hi grils,

Well, as a big fan of the Suhaila technique I am concidering to bring this great teacher over.

I did not do all the math yet but I am guessing that a weekend (15 hours of teaching) would come to cost 300 euro's and a weeklong (30 hours perhaps with optional testing would cost 550 euro's).

Would you be interested in taking this workshop?? Elaborate answers welcome, this is always very helpfull!

The workshop would ofcourse focus on her technique and be stylization free! A lot of hard work and inspiration guaranteed ;)

About Butoh:

Butoh is Japanese Movement theater, closely related to dance. It is based on the western and eastern philosophy of dance. The most important principle of butoh is that it takes the contents as a starting point, not the shape it eventually receives. This means experience and imagination determine the shape. It keeps on searching for the original impulse of the movement, a process for which it uses the language of the body. To reach this material several basic principles are used to train the body to relax to create space in mind and body. By slowing down mind, body and movement the dancer experiences a greater concentration and a higher level of consciousness. The tranquility and spaces this creates makes it possible to open up to images and impulses from inside and outside what results in the material for improvisation.

Butoh en Tribal Fusion Belly Dance:

Of all belly dance styles tribal fusion belly dance is one of the most tranquil, quite and powerful styles today. It demands technique, vision and inspiration. To meet these demands fusion dancers train in multiple disciplines. In this form butoh is an important source. The common ground between these two art forms consists among others of slowing down movement and the transformation of internal images to external shape without losing the pureness of the emotion/ impuls.
In this workshop you will work on your own dance, movement quality and contents of your dance by deepening your understanding of movement and the connection between the internal and external realities. Truly a unique experience!
The workshop will focus on the following butoh principles:
• Awareness of the current state of the body
• Slowing down movements
• Giving and receiving impulses by manipulation
• Transforming from images and improvisation

Interested in Layering but you don’t know how to start? Try this workshop with the Suhaila Salimpour approach!

We will start with a vigorous warm up including basic bellydance moves and we will work up to layering exercises. We will work on upper and lower body layering and lower body layering in itself. Finger cymbals are optional during the drills…

Help for rroma children

Dear friends,

Many of you responded to my last demand and we made happy a lot of rroma children and families from the Balkans. Thank you for that !

In a few weeks, i am going to India, where I will be meeting nomad kalbeliya families. This time our Organization would need clothes for children, especially very small children. So please, if you have anything to give, we would be happy to take it to India. I will be in Paris until January 9th, so for those who live in Paris, somebody from the Organization would come to pick up the staff. And for the others, there is a possibility to send it. For those who are already in India, I will be performing in New Delhi (January 10th and 11th) and Orissa (January 12th) before going to Rajasthan (Jan. 14th), so if you wish to help, please contact me as soon as possible so that we can arrange a meeting.
