Ok, so now that my first bra is done it's time to move on to my skirt. I have about 4 - 4 1/2 yards of reversible fabric in red and black. (pic in my profile) I want to make this piece reversible so I can get 2 costumes from 1 garment. I'm tall and bottom heavy. I don't want to put too much extra fabric around my hips and make me look even more off balance.
So far I've thought about doing harem pants, a handkerchief point skirt, a circle skirt (if I have enough fabric) with openings up each thigh to give it more swing, or a mermaid skirt (which is low on my list because I have no pattern). Anybody have any ideas for me? What would you do in this situation?

Thu, July 24, 2008 - 3:02 PMI would actually lean towards the mermaid skirt- slimming in the hips with plenty of flair- I think Gailene had a tutorial in her profile- if you can't find it, let me know and I'll try to write down what I do for a mermaid skirt. That being said, I love double sided circle skirts because you can see the second color underneath when manipulating the skirt.

And if you make this out of panels, it is very easy to do - I adjusted a pattern in a 'Burda'-magazine and it turned out to be just fine.
