Hello!!

I´m new in the tribe...and I start taking clases of bellydance and tribal fusion one year ago..So I´m trying to make some belts and bra by myself little by little!

First of all sorry if I´ve repeated the post...

The reason of these post is that I have problems when I cover the bra with a fabric..I thought that it would be the easier thing...but when I finished covering it..oh my god, I look it and it looks like I have attached pockets or somethig strange to the cups of the bra!! It looks horrible... The first time I thought that it was becasuse the fabric was so rough...but nooooooo. I`ve change it and the result is the same...!!! I`m not a expert sewing I´ve started recently experimenting, the truth...but my result...it scares..

So...How I have to cover a bra..and what it´s the best type of fabric to do it...?

Thank you so much in advance..!!!!!

((I have not take english classes for a long time..so..sorry for the mistakes!!!!!!))

I just follow Dina Lydia's instructions out of Shira's site. This is the address: www.shira.net/cg/coverbra.htm.

There's another girl in YouTube. Her channel is www.youtube.com/user/Xanadance. She shows how to cover a bra in several videos. She's very detailed.

Any other doubt you can send me a message with your question.

I agree that The Costume Goddess is a good place to start. Tribe's unfortunate tendency to include punctuation in URLS will trip you up if you try to use the link above, however; try
      www.shira.net/cg/coverbra.htm
      and
      www.youtube.com/user/Xanadance
to get the benefit of Fatima's advice.

At this point I am guessing that the 'pockets' occurred because you tried making a pattern for the cup covering instead of draping it on. For your first bra I really think the draping technique, as outlined in Dina/Costume Goddess instructions, is the way to go. Use lots of pins and be patient with yourself. It will suddenly 'click' and then you'll be covering bras and whistling while you work. Also - you can drape the entire cup with one piece of fabric if you want to - dividing the drape into two parts (top and bottom) does give guidelines when the time comes to add coins or fringe etc but if you dart the fabric as you drape it is not necessary... well, I'll say not necessary if no larger than a D cup. I've never covered larger than that, maybe the rules change.
