Hi Everyone,
So here's my first contribution from the "what do you want in a tutorial thread?" Big thanks to everyone who chimed in...the educator in me loves making these things as I learn a lot doing them so please keep the requests coming. Also, please let me know if you like them - or if you have any questions as I'm happy to help out.
Here's a tutorial for a sleeveless Ghawazee Coat, refashioned from a pre-existing dress:
www.flickr.com/photos/mis...6511834047/
Approximate project time: 1.5 hours
Cost: Under $20
Notes:
* Sleeveless because that's the one I could crank out faster (I'll do a sleeve-ed one soon, I promise!)
* Sleeveless because you can wear all sorts of other shirts under it for a variety of looks
* Be sure to try on, try on, try on! I still need a slight adjustment in the bodice, but it's 97% done...if I hadn't kept trying it on I would've been lost. This is one of those projects where you may need to do constant slight adjustments, so be sure to keep checking in on your work.
Enjoy!

Re: TUTORIAL: Sleeveless Ghawazee Coat
Sat, June 13, 2009 - 12:34 AMthat is wonderful, just what I needed! But I am thinking in another direction now...Converting an existing vest (the patterned brocade kind you find at thrift stores) into a cropped undebust vest, or a choli, and using the excess fabric to create a matching belt? another thing to add to my project list.............
