ok, so after hours of trying to come up with a proper base form for my first belt i've just about given up.
i'm trying to make something more or less like the "Vixen" style www.sugarpetals.com/bra_belt.asp
this is where you all come in :)
either you know how to help me make a well-shaped base.... it can't be that hard, can it??? lol
or you know other websites than sugar petals that sell pre-made belt bases or forms.... (though i would actually prefer to learn how-to myself)
in both cases i'd be eternally grateful :)

Re: belt forms?
Mon, May 19, 2008 - 9:53 AMI actually find leather belts with this shape at the thrift stores all of the time. I use the purchased belt as a pattern tracing it first onto a piece of muslin, make any adjustments to the length or width, then use the muslin pattern to cut the shape from recycled denim, upholstry fabric, or other sturdy stuff, then cover with the costume fabric and embelish. It really isn't hard.

Re: belt forms?
Tue, May 20, 2008 - 7:36 AMcouple options- Atirah's fashions belt pattern works okay, but since they don't really give size guidelines I still had to make a couple mock ups to customize before actually making one. for my last one, tho- I used a pattern for a skirt with a yoke that I already knew fit well and traced the belt shape onto the yoke. again, still need to make a mock up to adjust before cutting the good fabric, but I was actually happier with that method. the key is allowing for your curves, and remember you are most likely curvier in the rear than in the front ;) -

Sun, May 25, 2008 - 10:37 PMHello Kalyani,
I see in your profile you're from Belgium, so you speak Dutch. A good website (in Dutch) which gives a very good tutorial for making a basic belt and bra (and other stuff) is: www.kyriascloset.com
I made already two belts with these guide-lines and they both fit perfectly.....
