Hi guys,
The Bellydanceshoppe is having a sale on veils, and since I don't have a silk veil, I was thinking of splurging on one. I was wondering if anyone here has ordered silk veils from them, and might be able to tell me what they're like in terms of quality.
(This would be a practice/learning veil, not for a performance, so it doesn't need to be the most gorgeous thing *ever*. It's also why I'd rather spend $20 on it rather than $70.)

Re: Bellydanceshoppe veils
Wed, April 2, 2008 - 8:12 AMWhich shop are you asking about? We have one in Charlotte. www.thebellydanceshop.com Maybe it would help if you gave us the web address.
The one above is excellent in everything you may purchase through them. She buys quality stuff from Turkey and Egypt. Her silk veils are of high quality. -

Re: Bellydanceshoppe veils
Sat, April 5, 2008 - 12:00 AMI have several bellydanceshoppe.com silk veils (the tie-dye ones) and they're fine. I've used them for performances and also for classes/practice.
My collection of silk veils includes mostly A'Kai Silks veils and a few L.Rose silk veils and several Bellydanceshoppe.com veils (the shop is local, here in Phoenix, so I visit every so often). I think the A'Kai Silks veils are the Mercedes Benz of veils. They just have a super luxe feel and float. I have to admit they are my faves. The L.Rose and Bellydanceshoppe.com veils I use as frequently and the colors of those that I own work with the costumes I have. They're light and floaty and their colors are lovely. I have no intention of replacing them with more expensive veils.
I think my only issue with them is that there is a small white tag stitched in to one of the edges that says bellydanceshoppe on it (or something like that). I usually use a set of pointy manicure scissors to carefully snip it out. I just don't like tags sewn into my veils.
Hope this helps! -

Re: Bellydanceshoppe veils
Sat, April 5, 2008 - 12:02 AMOh, and to be clear, the site I believe this is about is www.bellydanceshoppe.com .
The store is located in Phoenix, AZ. The owner is Naj and she is a DOLL! Sweet lady who is always so very helpful with anything I'm looking for. Her shop has a studio and she's always sponsoring workshops. Sunday she's hosting a veil-dyeing workshop being taught by a local costume guru for whom fabric dyeing is a specialty. I'd feel comfortable buying anything from bellydanceshoppe.com.
