Ever have a day when your sunglasses just aren't dark enough? Ugh! Migraine! M's sis is profoundly handicapped and was screaming and pitching a fit last night and this mornining. Add to that the teeth grinding you can hear across the room. This is a daily thing, but this morning it triggered a migraine. I'm miserable!

Re: sunglasses
Thu, February 12, 2009 - 9:23 PMDeep tissue therapy on my neck works on migraines. My migraines used to last a minimum of a week.... usually two. Now I can keep them down to a day or two. As of yet, cranio sacral has not done a whole lot of good. I am getting ready to try some more therapies. I'll let you guys know how I feel about them a week or two after treatment (gotta give it time to see if it worked). It will be a few weeks before I can get in for the therapy. -

Re: sunglasses
Fri, February 13, 2009 - 5:27 AMI am currently using deep tissue on a client daily to reduce the frequency of her migraines. It seems to help, however it needs to be a daily thing which leads me to believe it is just a band-aide to the condition. I am considering further training in the Cranial Sacral modality with the Upledger Institute so am curious about others experience. I have been able to access decreased flexion and extension of the cranial bones on the right side of her head, which I later found out is where her pain begins so I think the two are connected.
I am curious, have you looked at the training your cranial sacral therapist has had? You can search the Upledger Institute website to see what training your therapist has taken. It may help you evaluate thier ability to use the cranial sacral tools effectively.

Re: sunglasses
Fri, February 13, 2009 - 12:06 PMoh and update us after you try the new therapy. I wish you the best and hope it works. If it does I would love to know what it is so I can suggest it to my client. I know she suffers. She loves what I am doing for her, but I feel so helpless to really effectively help her. She needs some other options I believe.

Re: sunglasses
Fri, February 13, 2009 - 6:01 PMHere is a thought..I took my friend who is a professor to my adopted father, Robert Blackhorse, traditonal medicine man and a Navajo singer. He created a sand painting and chanted for 3 hours. The whole ceremony was so amazing. he has been doing this for 50 years. When she was finished he explained to her the migrains were a symptom of a cause..a fear of intimacy. The Navajo are very superstitious and believe the earth and her children try to heal in her own way. She was placed on a diet to decrease her fear and increase her trust. She quit having the headaches.
He also cured me of my cancer. And that is another story. -

Re: sunglasses
Fri, February 13, 2009 - 6:31 PMWow! That is fabulous, Jamilla!
Migraines may have many sources: the most common source of migraines is actually eye problems. after that, there are: muscle tension, vitamin/mineral deficiencies, TMJ disorder, problems with teeth (especially in the case of crowded teeth), hormonal imbalances and over reaction to stressors. It is best to make sure you do not have a deficiency, eye problem, hormonal imbalance, or problems with your teeth first. Talk to a doctor about it. I already have. My problem usually lies with my splenius muscles, but sometimes with the jaw.
They have given me 3 different drugs to try for migraines. None of them even touched it. Oh, yeah, another source of migraines can be food allergies! So, seeing a doctor that is willing to check into all these things is definitely the first step. Imagine if you could get rid of them by taking a supplement, getting glasses, or stop ingesting a certain food!
