People talking about you???

I belong to a small performing troupe (3 members) here in Topeka; we perform ATS. This fall has been very busy for us even tough we've been very selective of the types of events we perform. The feed-back from the event coordinators and audience has been very positive.

Today I told my Mom we'd be performing next weekend at a friends Quincernera. My Mom has been very supportive of my dancing, BTW. Anyway, she told more people would talk about me. When I asked her what had been said to her she was very evasive until I told her it wasn't fair to me for her to spread partial gossip and not the whole enchilada. Apparently, someone made the sarcastic comment that what I didn't do when I was young I'm doing now...

Why do people have to be so snide? Has anyone sad anything about your dancing?

How much do I invest?

K, I've been thinking about this -- how much do I invest in bellydance: lessons, workshops, music, costumes, jewelry, makeup, etc? I'd really LOVE to do the $700 course by Fat Chance but that's what got me trying to put pencil to paper. Please hear me out cause I know everyone will say spend as much as you want, etc.

I just turned 52 and am really in pretty good health. No arthritis, bad knees, only the occassional back ache. But even then, how many years can I realistically expect to dance? If I'd started to dance 20 years ago, wanted to teach or perform at the big events, I probably wouldn't be having this conversation. But, an older dancer who pretty much does it for fun...how does one know when to stop spending money on a hobby?

Has anyone else ever thought about this? What were your thoughts or conclusions?

Introduction to a great tribe!

Hey all you beautiful crones! I've been reading your tribe, and while I don't officially count as a crone for another seven years, I can guarantee I will dance my entire life. I have some qualifications I hope will work for you so I can be included in your group -

1. Age is a state of mind.
2. My mother taught me to belly dance when I was five, and she still dances at 64.
3. My favorite time teaching belly dance was for my mother in law's Red Hat Lady luncheon. Talk about a blast - those ladies know how to party!
4. I had a great time performing at the local AARP luncheon. I was so worried about offending them with my costume and belly showing, thinking that they might not get it, so I kept the belly covered. They made me feel so comfortable that I later removed the cover, and they were so appreciative. They held their breath when I was balancing my cane. One woman even shouted "It's not even!"
5. I recently finished my physical therapy doctoral case report on teaching wheelchair belly dance to a 57 year old woman with MS. She improved greatly, and continues to dance on her own. I never knew research could be so fun!

Attend the Vegas Intensive--Free!!

Hello everyone. (from Director of Volunteers, Reema)

I have been asked to be the Director of Volunteers for the LV Intensive 2009. I am looking for enthusiastic, fun loving people who want to take part in one of the biggest and best events Las Vegas has to offer. So many performers come to Las Vegas and witness first-hand the comradery and family like atmosphere at this event and a great part is owed to all the wonderful and generous volunteers we count on each year.

Additionally, volunteers get the added perks of taking some classes or attending the shows for free, and have fun. There are many opportunities to be involved in. We need people to be ushers,to help at the registration tables, and to check people into classes. We also need help running the festival stage, runners for vendors & performers, personal assistants to the teachers, etc. We'd enjoy having some "belly husbands" who want to help move, set up, and tear down equipment as well as dealing with technical aspects of the event. Please join our Bellydance Intensive family. If you are interested, please e-mail me direct at reema@bellydanceintensive.com.

Sincerely and Yours in Dance,

Reema, Director of Volunteers

Saw this by accident last night and I was glued to it. I related to it strongly as
I spent much of my late twenties and thirties too disabled to do much and
took up bellydance just before 40th....and maybe I should now put my
name down on the waiting list for this group, average age, 79
and a prime example of the elegance and joy of dance :), so something
to look forward to in 40 yrs or so!!

only there for a week though, so catch it quick!

happy dancing everyone

Do you remember eye wash cups? I have terrible allergies and must wash my eyes often. I got tired of using the lid to my water (very uncomfortable), and bought an eye wash cup at the pharmacy. They stopped putting the curve in the glass to fit your eye!!!!!!! So I fill it, place it, tip it...... and my shirt is all wet! Ugh! WHY did they change it??????? It USED TO work!!!!!
Well, I had to go buy an OLD one on ebay! WHY do they do that ????

The wind was 45-50 yesterday with dust storms, and that remains today, but with blowing snow. Wow. I don't like the weather here at all. This type of thing makes me want to stay in bed all day, and I need to move around! Ugh!

The Vegas Intensive embraces crones!!

Hey ladies!! I am the organizer of the Las Vegas Bellydance Intensive. I am looking for some talented dancers with EXPERIENCE (aka crones) to participate in the event. We were incredibly blessed to have 73 year old DeLois LaDelle perform for us last year and she brought the house down!!! It's really important to me to have a diverse group of performers on my stages. Please consider submitting a festival submission or even auditioning (online) for one of our evening shows.

We are very excited to announce that registration for the festival portion of the Las Vegas Bellydance Intensive is now OPEN!! Please visit tinyurl.com/festivalinfo for more details.

Additionally, we are also accepting online "auditions" for the evening shows. To be considered for the evening shows, please visit tinyurl.com/auditioninfo for all the details.

***Please note that the festival portion of our event is different from our evening shows. Inclusion in the evening shows is by an online audition and is a different submission form. Inclusion in the festival is open to anyone and is on a first-come first-served basis. If you want to be considered for the evening shows, we recommend filling out a festival submission form as well so you can still dance at the event if you aren't chosen for the show.***

We are looking forward to your participation in the Las Vegas Bellydance Intensive this year.

Much Love & Happy Dancing,

I'm working on a costume. I bent my needle and had to go to Wally World and get more needles. I got several packs because it seems I never have the proper needle. Now I do! Just so you know, if you are sewing plastic boning onto a bra top, the blue jean needle seems to do fairly well. My costume will be a deep purple and turquoise. I'll post a pic. when I get it finished.

diets

"S" (bless her heart) has touched on a very good subject..or bad..diets
Diets are not a good thing. They shift the responsibility from the eater to the diet...
Since most of us are getting a wee bit older, have you noticed that for every piece of pie we stuff into our faces it takes more miles in our walks to work it off?
There are many solutions to this problem. Here is what I have learned..feel free to add your tricks
Eat the filling and leave the crust. .
Eat less, drink more water
Hike or take long walks 3 times a week
Look in the mirror naked.. Use two mirrors to see just how much you jiggle in the butt ;-) Do you like what you see? Few do. Why? It is in your power to change what you can and leave the rest (gravity) for prosperity
Keep your chest, waist and hip measurement in proportion..this is needed for a healthy heart. At a certain point a waist that is too large (guidelines say over 32 inches) will negatively affect your heart, so eat in moderation and instead of using a scale, use a tape measure
KILL YOUR SCALES!
LOVE what you are eating
Be totally honest with yourself..after all who are you kidding?

Ageism

Ok, girls... Here's the situation. An email circulated throughout the dancers here in town, offering employment at a local restaurant for dancers under the age of 35. Duh... my first reaction was "Restaurant work is a young person's gig." However, the more I thought about it, the madder I got. There are laws that prevent employers from discriminating on the basis of age. If a restaurant ran an ad for wait staff under the age of 35, they'd get their butts sued off. So, why is it ok to discriminate against dancers? And who determined that 35 is the "magic age" for retirement, anyway? I've seen restaurant dancers who are well past AARP age in other cities. Their age wasn't an issue. They were obviously hired for their skill and talent. In all fairness, the restaurant wasn't circulating the email. A local dance "diva" put it out there on behalf of the restaurant's management. So, what do you think? Am I over-reacting here or is this discrimination of the worst kind at work?
Hobbyist is the New category at Wiggles of the West!

Yes, it is true, after a big meeting this weekend in Las Vegas we added a NEW category. We have long needed an inbetween category that would fill in the space between Rising Star and Entertainer. Hobbyist is for those of us who just love to dance.

The requirements are 4 or more years experience. You can not perform for money on a regular basis, advertise as a professional, or be a teacher. This category is for Non-professionals. Belly Dance music only. You can be retired from teaching or performing.

I am an example of a Hobbyist. I have lots of experience dancing. I haven't taught a dance class in years. But still love to perform at Haflas and such.

The benifits are the fun of competiting, the great feedback you get from our judges, and you get to share your dance.

Hope to see you in Vegas in July!

M's sis is profoundly handicapped and was screaming and pitching a fit last night and this mornining. Add to that the teeth grinding you can hear across the room. This is a daily thing, but this morning it triggered a migraine. I'm miserable!

Yes, we are still working on it, but we/I just can't wait any longer to tell everyone about our NEW and IMPROVED web site. It is wonderful and I'm proud to say my son designed it!!

We now have our own place to hang out, because the web site includes FORUMS. I do believe we have the first Belly Dance Competition web site with their own Forums. We have some forums up and can add more later as need arises. We also have our own Calendar!

We will keep the old site up until all the information has been transfered. Please do go check out our fabulous site at http://www.wigglesofthewestlv.com

You know I was raised before all the PC crap. If you had an opinion, you had an opinion and if you believed you were right you stood up for it. Now, people have to wait to see were the majority stand on an issue before they can decide what they think. It's "let's not take a side or have an opinion or make a choice" because someone might get "hurt feelings" and we'd rather be neutral on all subjects so we never have to take a stand on anything or we'd rather wait to see who may benefit me more.

First...and foremost, you gals are amazing. And no, this tribe site is not going away...much like everyone, I find it harder and harder to get on tribe and have wanted to do more for the Crones..
so...
please do check out the new site. I am recruiting (unpaid totally voluntary)...an assistant administrator who will have full admin access to help keep the new site up and running and totally cool.
www.bellydancecrones.ning.com
The new site has more functions than Tribe..(sorry tribe, I will always have a soft spot for you and will continue to keep this page going!!) Chat, Media,(Music and photo download capability), ability for crones to create their own groups and promote their own causes and business, and full profile pages of course...kind of like Tribe on steroids.

Because I project you guys will really have allot of fun with site, and I really cant be everywhere at once, I am asking for someone who would like to step up and be the Bellydance Crone Site Admin. person, or manager...

You will need to of course join up, its free...so everyone please get on that for the new year...
go to one of the url's that is pointing to the site (yes we have our own domain name)
www.bellydancecrones.com
or go to the site directly at
www.bellydancecrones.ning.com
Ning is FREEE....

ALSO, an Artist is needed. I would like to have an original piece created for the Bellydance Crones. The only pay back is it for your own promotion. The picture would be offered at a cafe press shop, via the ning site and be also the icon for the site and for this one too if you would like. If you are a budding artist, and would like to submit some ideas, either send one to me, or get on the new site and start blogging your interest!

With your help...Bellydance Crones will become iconic and I hope we build up a big base and can get together at some large dance event very very very soon...
the world is your oyster...hope to see you at ning.

Okay guys...knowing how hard it is to get on tribe, (its down time is becoming infamous)...I opened up bellydance crones on ning. which is quickly becoming populated with groups but is actually better in allot of ways. You can create your own subgroups and the group sites are much more user friendly..
please come on over and help populate bellydance crones on ning. You wont be sorry, and it is never down!!!!
see you there!!!!!

Thanks for your kind comments on the Ghawazee crones...all 50+ infact three of us 60+
Our show "Postcards from the oOient" in Lancashire England had a cast of thirty and I would say the majority of the cast were 40+. We did allow some lovely youngsters to take part but on the whole I think we proved the energy of older dancers and performers,.
We showed 11 scenes"postcards" snippets of belly dance history. I'll post more.

He got a limited time upgrade from the cable company, so we temporarily get FIT TV. Yeah! Shimmy! I asked him to please tape as many as he could for me. He said he would. Well, it has been 2 weeks and none were taped. His job is at the house all day. Today I said, "oh, nevermind!" He got mad at me, hooked everything up and started recording, saying that I am not nice to him. Ugh! Is it that **%&%^$# hard to tape a program for someone?

I have some weird stuff going on...... I have not lost any weight, I'm not dieting as such, and I have not increased my exercise very much, but some of my clothes are LITERALLY falling off of me! (YAY!) I will have to grab some photos and take some new ones to see what this looks like on paper. I had my gall bladder out in February..... is it possible that all that mass was toxins and or fluid built up from a faulty gall bladder?????????? Any docs or nurses here?

My birthday is today. I'm 51. I have two young daughters, 9-turning-10-in-4-days and 11...a husband who is mostly clueless...I bellydance and my housekeeping sucks. ;-)

Why can't i find a place to rent that is not going to blow up or fall apart while I'm in it? (there was a hole in the gas line in the wall of the house that was 1/4" wide and 3/4" long!)

I am a bellydancing CRONE...I just love that it makes me smile with silly pride. I am 53 yeaars living and looking forward to an interesting future...I Bellydance YES! and I have fun with it. I am pretty normal in that I have days where I am really hyped and days when I question myself. What I have found is no matter what I seem to think I always manage to circle back to the fact I just can't give up because It would be like surgicaly removing a happiness that dwells inside me.
So I hope to have fun here and pop in and out ,read and respond ,or ask and take it like a bellydancer....either way I feel this is good company to be in.

Working with different personalities in a troupe.

I thought I would post this question on this tribe because we have all been around the block and have lots of wisdom and experience to share.....

I am a member of a dance troupe made of 9 ladies of varying ages, sizes, ethnicity and dance experience. We all had to go through auditions to be in this troupe. So we had to pass our teacher's tests.

Three of the members are returning members from last year and 6 of us are new to the troupe, but not to the studio and instructor. We meet for troupe practise once a week, sometimes more especially now when we are gearing up for Ren Faire and a busy performance schedule.

We each have different working careers from entrepreneurs, librarians, accountants, creative design, hair dresser, stay at home mom, realtor, teacher, admin asst. I would say that we are all pretty creative when it comes to costuming and are all dedicated to our dance. But me and a few other new members feel there is something lacking in this troupe. There isn't the closeness as troupe members that we thought we would receive when joining this troupe.

Through your experience, what have you done in the past or are currently doing to get your group together? How do you get people to communicate and understand eachother better instead of thinking everyone is trying to do better than you? How do you all get on the same "agenda"? How do you create a sisterhood?

We have tried having parties, going to dinner, etc. I may be expecting too much from this group, but I see so many other troupes where the members are like family with eachother. I feel there is a lot of misunderstanding of one another and no one wants to confront the issue. A few have gone to the teacher and expressed themselves, and I see she is trying to address some of the issues in practise by suggesting that we all get together and practise outside of the studio....but I don't see it changing.

I thought of all of us taking a personality test so that we can all understand eachother better....or will this just point out what other's perceive as flaws with a person's personality and not use it as a tool to maybe understand how that person ticks?

I'm the oldest of the group....they call me Momma Cat. I don't want to seem like I'm craming things down their throat. But there is this 200 pound gorilla sitting in the room and I'm afraid he is going to go wild if we don't all start talking.

Thanks for your advise!

Wiggles of the West is going back to July

I thought some of you might be interested in this news, since we have the Headliner category in our contest.

Dear Community,

We are deeply saddened to announce, that due to circumstances beyond
our control, the Wiggles of the West Belly Dance Competition and the
Las Vegas Bellydance Intensive will not be held together in 2009.

Unfortunately, we have been unable to secure the needed time and
space at
Palace Station to do both events together. Additionally, we have not
been able to find another location that is affordable, available, and
in a decent location with the amenities we require.

Due to the amount of time needed for proper planning, we have decided
to run our events separately in Las Vegas. We want to be clear that
this is a joint and mutual decision. We truly want both events be be
successful and well-attended. We wish each other well in our
respective endeavors.

Sincerely,

Janie Midgley & Chris Proebstel, the Wiggles of the West Belly Dance
Contest
Samira Tu'Ala, the Las Vegas Bellydance Intensive

My name is Victoria and I'm 40 years into loving this life What an amazing ride so far! Can't wait to see how the next 40 years unfold. I love love love bellydance in all its forms and began dancing at 32. I have so far danced only for joy and fun but the thought keeps entering my head that maybe it's time to share a little? We'll see what I do. I adore how there is a richness of community in bellydance from teenagers to great grandmas which does not seem to exist as much as it should in this modern world. I love dancing with my daughter (now 16) and look forward to sharing and learning with all of you. Blessings and light! ~V

When is enough enough? Or "old" too old?

Sometimes, when I'm alone in the dark, I start asking questions about my mortality. The one that bounces around most often is "How old is too old" to dance. When I started dancing back in the '70's one of my troupe mates was 55 (3 years younger than I am now). I thought she was ancient!! Last year, I was back in my home town and saw a poster with her picture on it! She's still dancing in her 80's! OMG! She looks better now than she did 30 years ago!

I guess my question is a personal one... how old are you out there? 40's?? 50's?? 60's?? 70's?? And, when do you seriously think about hanging up the zils? When I was in my early 30's, I took a 20 year sabbatical from belly dancing 'cause I thought I was getting too old. Boy, was I wrong! Just look at it as 20 wasted years.

I remember a wise woman told me when I hit 50, I was entering the most powerful time of my life. It certainly has been the time of the greatest changes (and I ain't talking menopause, here) and most profound experiences of my life.

So, whadda ya think? Are we ever too old to dance, health permitting, of course??

I'm starting to get excited about the class I'm going to teach at my local Senior Center in October, dubbed "Vintage Hips - Belly Dance Excercise". I and two of my 'girls' gave a description and demonstration at their health fair last weekend, and we had some women moving with us --- even an old gentleman! The director said it was 'awesome' and was following some moves along with us - wow! We could have a hit on our hands, ladies!

Are there any "granny goths" out there? I'm looking for a better term for those of us who discovered gothic belly dance way past the time we got our first AARP cards. I went to a workshop with the lovely Tempest last October and had a real door into the darkside open for me. I'm really enjoying this trip into the shadows and am wondering if there are other dark dancers of a certain age out there!

I've been working on a choreo to Start Wearing purple that I really love and I'm teaching to my students & troupe mates...we are doing it at Punk Raqs.
My friend posted a you tube of me & Heidi doing it at his hafla before I went to the UK a few weeks ago and I thought I'd share it with my crony friends!
The dance is still unfinished in this video, and Heidi (bless her) had JUST learned it from me a few days before...so be kind if she makes a boo boo! Also the costume was really slapped together at this time...
not to mention, I laid my father to rest just 3 weeks ago...

anyway, on a light note:

..does anyone else blog anywhere else besides here? Do you or can you share you ID's here or send a link via a posting?
Would love to create a web work of us..
by the way..I will be writing an article for California Woman Magazine, based upon my article I wrote for Chronicles last year..."boomers and beyond" bellydance.
I will fill you in after it happens, but it should be in the Sept/Nov edition....
all's well...hope everyone else is doing good.

Why does my body refuse to accept pops and locks???

I started learning Tribal Fusion in December and I've been to 3 workshops and weekly classes ever since. I practice 2 or 3 times a week, at least. I teach 2 Belly Dance classes a week and take classes in an 'advanced' class once a week. I'm 54, post-menopausal and very healthy with only about 25 extra pounds (according to my doctor) though I'd like to lose 35.

I did another workshop on Saturday (yesterday), 3 1/2 hours of dancing, with Moria of Belly Dance Superstars. It was a fantastic learning experience and she is a very challenging teacher. But I felt so out of shape and old. For some reason I just can't seem to 'get' the staccato pop - lock that Tribal styles demand. It is very frustrating. I watch other, younger, dancers and they have a great command of their bodies with sharp little tick-tocks in the upper body and strong pops and locks in the lower body. I'm getting discouraged :-(

Am I alone? Is there a better way for an "old chick' to learn or practice this technique? Any helpful ideas would be greatly appreciated.

that wierd, but not uncommon, hormonal imbalance that makes your heart go all wonky??

Several years ago, I freaked out because of frequent episodes of irregular heartbeats...and a few thousand dollars later, results of my "stress" test were *normal*...or rather, in doc-speak, "I see nothing to be concerned about here."

Well, this morning it's happening again...while I'm not freaked out, it just feels wierd.

<<No, no numbness, no shortness of breath, no loss of focus......just very frustrated with kids, aggravated with hubby and stressed big time over work>>

It's been 7 weeks since my abdominal hysterectomy surgery. I went to troupe practise last week and danced. I thought I took it easy, but I was in major pain afterwards. I then danced a few dances at our performance this past weekend and was in pain again. I feel great on the outside! But I guess it will take some time for the inside to heal.

Has any of you experienced this with major surgery? How long did it take you before you were able to dance at full capacity again?

It felt so great to get to practise and to put on costumes and dance with my troupe mates! I missed it so much!

I am retiring from my regular job at the end of this month and devoting myself full time to my new endeavor at age 63. I have been sewing since I was 13 years old and I have been making belly dance costumes since I started dancing in 1975. Now I have the opportunity to do something I love full time.

I had my mammogram this past Friday. 1st, it's amazing that even though your breastesses are squished to take the picture, on the picture itself they look normally shaped. 2nd, I noticed white tissue radiating a short way from the nipple towards the rest of the breast; I asked if the white part was fat. The tech said the white is the "firm" breast tissue, the uncolored is the fat. The older we get, the less white there is, meaning we get...well...she didn't want to say this...saggier. I want more white!!!!!!

Fire fan workshop cancelled!

I'm very sorry to have to announce the cancellation of this event.
I've just been informed that one of the presentors (the one who was to instruct the choreography portion of the workshop) has accepted a conflicting engagement.

I will be refunding the workshop fee to those of you that have paid already. Please contact me if you have already purchased your fire fans from Riz, and we will see what can be done there as well.

Deepest apologies

this past weekend, i danced in a fantastic show that my dance instructor produces twice a year.

this weekend marked the first time i used those neoprene knee braces. with all these young girls bouncing about, i felt a bit old putting on the knee braces, but with those braces, i was able to keep up, doing the full turns as needed (which i couldn't do without pain before).

i still can't get on my knees and back up again gracefully, so i avoid routines like that (and my instructor has been very kind keeping that in mind).

but, i wonder...what do you do when the knees just won't support you in certain moves necessary to a dance routine?

(oh, and yes, i'm working on the weight factor, but even at my best weight, i fear my knees will not be up to the challenge)

Hair falling out

Hello all,

As you may know, I'm 51 years old. I'm also "pre-menopausal" (is that a term?). Anyway, for the last year or more my hair has been falling out in abudant fashion everytime I brush or especially wash it. At least that's when it's most noticeable. Does the hormonal thing of nearing menopause cause this?

I asked the girl who cuts my hair and she said it's "normal" to lose hair. I know how much hair I used to lose but now it's really alot. It's a very good thing my hair was so thick to begin with. My Mom's hair is still pretty normal and very nice; she's in her 70's. Before he died, my Dad had thinner hair (but not bald by any means). I take daily vitamins and try to eat sensibly.

I'll quit worrying if someone tells me this can be expected.

Thanks much,

Zina

thickening middle from age and bellydance yikes

I dont know what the age group is here, but I am menopausal. I am loosing weight slowly, but have to admit, teaching bellydance and exercising is not improving my midsection. my muscles in my ab are thickening and thus my mid section although tight (for me)..is getting more and more a pregnancy shape. I am getting more fat in the mid section now that I am "of that age" and have to say that my teaching ab exercises and tummy roles is kind of having the opposite affect on my body type.

Not that I will stop what I am doing..but I think not doing ab work (hate to give it up since it strengthens my back) but I do need to kind of reduce the muscle thickness....
any ideas? I can feel the muscles under the fat, and I am at a loss at how to "spot" reduce the fat since I know I cant. I am slim from the hips down. And I am big chested with normal width shoulders...
any thoughts?

Hi all,

Just started dancing about 6 months ago here in Virginia and have been lurking around the tribes soaking in all kinds of great stuff. Funny how life is..... had not planned to leave the area for another 2 years but now find myself possibly moving to Tampa in the next month or so. A normal person would be checking into my new home's tax system, crime rate, etc. No, not me, I'm pouring over the list of dance instructors in the Tampa area...LOL.

Just thought I'd see if any sister crones in the tribe live in that area and if you do, do you have any suggestions on teachers. I'm a true novice with ME dance but love to learn and most of the concepts come pretty easy to me. Need to thank Mom for all the dance lessons she made me take as kid, finally paying off!

Thanks,
Not a dance question - Question on Hysterectomy

I know this isn't a dance question, but I value all of your opinions, experiences, etc. I know I can count on you ladies to help me make a decision.

I am scheduled to have a hysterectomy on April 3rd. My doctor has asked for me to think if I want my ovaries out or not. I don't have any history of ovarian cancer or any type of cancer in my family. I have never had any problems with my ovaries. So what are the ups and downs of having them taken out along with the uterus?

I haven't started menopause yet. I have had regular periods, however they have gotten really heavy and I have pelvic pain and constant pressure now. That is the reason for the hysterectomy. If I have them taken out, will I then begin menopause all of a sudden? If I don't have them taken out, do you gradually go through menopause? If I have them taken out will it shorten the time of menopause and I go through it quicker? I will be asking my doctor these questions, but I wanted to get the answers from women who have gone through it.

Thank you for your comments.

hugs,
Sanura

Hi SandyFF and others. I'm 51 and fairly new to belly dance. I'm glad to have found this tribe. Nothing like a group that may experience the same issues as I.

crone hair

so we've discussed greys but no one ever mentions thinning hair. I have this problem, & I'm trying to grow it out. I don't want to give in and have short hair I dream of having long silver hair someday. I know it will be silver the question is will it ever be long again....

I so regret that I cut my long hair in my 30's because now it doesn't seem to want to grow past the bottom of my shoulder blades and yes it's very thin.

Any suggestions on hair care or supplements that may help me out here?

Tonight I've sat longer crocheting some silly fun fur yarn than well since the other day. It was prep day before my colonoscopy. Anyone know what I mean, jellybean! :)

Coiuld any of you beautiful sisters help me? I live in a remote area where the closest bellydance class of any kind (caberet) is an hour away through steep hills and bad weather. I've learned a lot from DVDs and some related dance experiences (modern, T'ai Chi, ballet) but I'm really on fire for tribal style dancing. Are there any instructional DVDs you would recommend?
I very much appreciate it!

Thank you to those who have supported me and have visited my swap page.
Because I realized it was not full service enough, and required me to be involved, I now have a fully functioning AUCTION page you can use. AND IT IS FREE....all you have to do is list and be sure to blog it or network it to others.
Its all yours..my gift to all of my fellow Tribers who got me off to a webstart!!
I have posted my blog but will post the url one more time
www.sacredgoddessonline.com
go to the auction link under other realms or you can also go the bellydance page and link from there. I will still have the swap page going..so dont worry..it is still up..
www.bellydancerswap.com

totally thrilled, and with your help we can network and keep this free auction site going!!
thanks again guys..
