Can anyone recommend some really good dvds on different kinds of shimmies? I've decided I want to drill shimmies (and hopefully learn some new ones!), and would like to find some good dvds. Thanks! :)

i found just for straight drilling in shimmies for me was cardio shimmy with raina. it only has a few basic shimmies, but the repetition helped me learn how to really let go and shake better because my muscles tend to tighten up too much at times. bozenka's dvd is also good and i think ansuya may have something worthwhile. i would just do a search for it.

DVD - 1001 Shimmies by Leyla Jouvana & Roland (not sure of spelling but that's close)

I second the layla even though its expensive. I hated Bozenka's shimmies, those are more for drills than to actually learn and it was not even good enough for drills to be truthful.

bozenka's dvd is pretty, and there are some fun shimmies, but little to no instruction on how to actually DO the shimmies shown. (as far as which muscles motivate it, etc) if you're good at keeping your body safe, it does have some fun shimmies ^_^
i haven't seen any of the others.

I just wanted to second "Turbo Shimmy" with Celeste when it comes to drilling basic shimmies. She offers a couple different ways to drill the shimmies, which allows you to find an approach that works best for you. For a variety of shimmy styles Leyla's video is really fun!

leyla's dvd is the most comprehensive
    it covers 21 shimmies
however for drills, you could use celeste turbo shimmy
jillina's drum solo dvd, the second one not the iamed one (part of her 3 part series) is also good

that dvd has a good flutter and egyptian shimmy drill
    they are shortish but good
and aziza's bellydance practice companion has the best shimmy drill and it is long like 20 minutes

    hope that helps
