Practicing zills

I just noticed an earlier post asking for help in identifying zill patterns. I've got a book that does that and a cd that demos. but the demos are so short that I can't effectively practice to them. By the time I start to get it, the demo is over. What I would like is to find a "set" of songs that someone would correlate zill patterns. That is, to say, okay if you go to itunes, here are 10 songs and here are the zill patterns you should be able to play against those songs. I would happily pay to download and practice, practice, practice. As a beginner, I have a great deal of difficulty knowing when to play what pattern! Help????

So, why don't you set your CD player/MP 3 player to repeat the song? It will continually repeat that song until you stop it. Then you can do the same thing with the next one. That was probably the intent of the recording in the first place. If they endlessly repeated one rhythm, they would not be able to fit as many on a recording, especially if it was first released on cassette or vinyl.

There is also software out there (I don't yet have it) that allows you to cut your music so that it can seamlessly repeat something. I'm sure some of the other ladies on here can point you in the right direction.

If you're learning M.E. rhythms, each rhythm is short. Once you know the base rhythm, then all you do is repeat, repeat, repeat, it over and over and over again..... ad nauseum. But that's the way to get it into your hands' muscle memory. As long as you have even a 10 - 20 second snippet of each rhythm, that's really all you need.

my dad used to do this with his cassette tapes when he was trying to learn the words to a song: play it really slow. i'm not sure how/if you would do that with a cd, but it might help if there is a way to play it at 1/2 speed.
