Not quite sure whether this is a place to post this, but being that most people here edit, post, etc., their own videos, maybe someone can steer me in the right direction.
Currently, I have a video capture device for convering old VHS tapes, as well as converting video from our video camera. We've been noticing that when we convert video over, it widens the picture -- not something a belly dancer really appreciates, as you can imagine.
The converter worked great on our old computer, but it is not compatible with Windows Vista, hence the problem.
We would like a similar replacement as we still convert VHS on occasion. Can anyone recommend a video capture device, compatible with Windows Vista, and preferably uses 1394 Firewire? Or maybe there is something entirely different we should consider?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Re: Video capture device question
Fri, May 22, 2009 - 10:23 AMOn my screen, any video gets widened simply because my monitor is too wide for it's own good and there does not seem to be any way to adjust it properly to the size of the images. I have a Dell computer, it was set by the shop when I bought it, and I have had this problem ever since. And yes, it runs on Windows Vista too. When I want to check how wide or slim the images really are I have to use a different computer at work. Bummer, yes.
