Re: Feedback welcome!
Tue, May 12, 2009 - 11:07 AMSara- I really like your interpretation of this song, its very fluid and enjoyable to watch. The only thing I might suggest, your hands seem really tense (fingers spread out and losing some of the fluid energy), I notice because I'm struggling with hand/arm issues and been playing with some different hand positions like keeping my thumb touching my index fingers or slightly cupped with the energy flow going from my palms out the back of my hands.
So much of Beats Antique gets done with some harsher pops/locks that its nice to watch something that is graceful and melts into the song. Thank you for sharing this! -

Tue, May 12, 2009 - 8:59 PMI have to agree- you have great flow & I really enjoyed watching this! I really like seeing a movements well timed & subtle rather than beaten to death & you did a great job. I also think you did well balancing a connection with the audience & taking time for the more introspective- your facial expression was very nice. (okay, can you tell what I've been working on in my own dance?)

Re: Feedback welcome!
Wed, May 13, 2009 - 8:41 AMHey NanSee!
I have got to agree with you about the hands. My hands have regressed lately, for lack of a better term, and I don't know why! It's something I'm working on. Right now, it seems the more I think about them, the more rigid they get. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas on how to overcome this??
Thanks! -

Re: Feedback welcome!
Wed, May 13, 2009 - 9:49 AMSara- As a fellow dancer who sometimes had hands with a mind of their own, I picture dancing through warm, thick water...just a little bit of resistance but not too much. I can float through it, cup my hands through it, guide it, etc. Granted, I'm still working on winning this battle but in the past few months I've gone from helicopter hands to having them become less distracting and people can actually notice my dancing and not my hands.

Re: Feedback welcome!
Wed, May 13, 2009 - 12:47 PMVery well done, Sara! I really enjoyed seeing Beats Antique interpreted without all of the pops/locks. It was very smooth and flowed well, I really enjoyed watching it! Your layering was well done and very well controlled. Great work!
The only thing I saw, was the already mentioned rigid hands. But honestly, that was getting knit-picky; I didn't feel it really detracted from your performance. I too sometimes forget about my hands and they get rigid or sometimes turn into the dreaded "propeller hand." Sorry I don't have much to add on how to overcome this...from my experience, the more concious you are of the problem, the easier it is with practice to fix it. In any case, great performance! Thanks for sharing!

Re: Feedback welcome!
Thu, June 4, 2009 - 8:52 AMHi, my opinion is a little bit different, cause I´ve recently made a group choreo. on this song for my students, so I know this song inside out and upsite down :-D
I probably feel the music differently cause I would expect dancing more to the melody than to the rhythm / beat. The song is very varied with lots of transitions which might have been used better or more imaginatively. You did this at the end of your performance, when you were probably more confident. But as I said, this is as I feel it.
On the other hand, I must say that you dance sooo well, very gracefully, with precise muscle control and that´s what I like :-D
Keep the good work.
