This is from a recent performance. The video is not of the best quality, there is a lot of background noise and some people walk in front of the camera. If you can bear with it, I would very much appreciate a gentle critique. Sincere thanks. :)

Wed, February 18, 2009 - 6:42 AMVery Well Done...you really showcased your technique. Nice, simple, yet lots of little whoooooooos! thrown in. You looked relaxed and seemed to have a great vibe going with the crowd.
I LOVED your outfit, are you wearing ruffles under your skirt, I need new glasses, but, I love the concept of black and white stripes under capri pantaloons under the glorious ruffly skirt. -

Thu, February 19, 2009 - 2:41 PMWell done :) Simple and too the point, very well executed. Good isolations. One thing to work on though (the only reason I noticed is because I have a tendency to do it too!) Just be careful to not flap at the wrist; it breaks the beautiful line of your arms. Otherwise, gorgeous :) Good job!

Thu, February 19, 2009 - 5:44 PMAt the risk of sounding like my grandma...
You are just as cute as a button!
The only thing I saw that I didn't like was the way the second song changed into the third...I would have liked to see you come out of that layback a little more gradually...
Otherwise, I think your technique was great...and I love the blue sky background...:-)

Fri, February 20, 2009 - 3:58 AMAli,
You've got all the ingredients for perfection - hip work, chest work, pop/locks, laybacks. I'd like to see more fluidity - I'm desperate to see more looseness in your body when transitioning between movements....more melty-ness please! A Modern dance class can work wonders for that aspect.
The only other thing I'd like to share with you is to please be careful about using the back-to-the-audience thing. It's getting a lot of use by many dancers and while it can be very cool to see how the muscles in the back work, please be mindful of what it means in 'body language' - it means - 'I'm ignoring you' audiences can be very sensitive to body language on a subconscious level. A simple over the shoulder look can alleviate the problem (and would have looked perfect and added to the playfulness of those hip circles and bumps you did with your back to the audience.)
Good job on your performance! -
