Hi everyone! I wanted to introduce myself... I am from Texas, and have been dancing for a few years. I travel a lot, both within the USA & internationally. Every time I travel, I try to learn about teachers, performances, shops, or other bellydance related events & people that I can learn from.

I am travelling to Germany later this month (22-31, March)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so happy to be coming --- and have been reading the posts to this group. It looks like my timing is not so good. Events are happening before & after I leave :(

If anyone has some information that they can share with me related to the dates that I will be there - I would appreciate it! Would love to know about anything related to this dance art that we all love so much!!

Oh, I will be staying about an hour from Frankfurt & travelling all around... including a hop over to Switzerland :P

Intro, and Egyptian in Berlin

Hi everyone, I just joined, so I thought I'd introduce myself. I'm a student in New Haven, CT. I spend most of my summers in Berlin, and was wondering where one can study Egyptian style in Berlin.

I've previously taken classes at a place called La Caminada, and I know about Beata and Horacio. I'll probably go to their school and try it, since there's always something to be learned, but my heart is in Egyptian style that's not *as* ballet influenced. Any advice?

Teaching a workshop in Germany/Switzerland?

I'm going to Switzerland for two weeks in May with my family, and my friend Freyja (also a dancer) suggested doing a workshop there. Does anyone know if there may be some interest in a tribal fusion workshop there? studies, exams, standards?

I would like to list whereabouts in Germany you can get a professional education in bellydance, ensuring a technical, interpretative level including knowledge, cultural and on music and styles, that makes you apt for performing on stage? I know this is a difficult question, after all who likes whose dancing, it depends on many things and a master may take to utmost simplicity, but what are the offers in Germany, who offers what? It should ensure that all important topics have been treated and that simplicity is a choice, not a lack of means. I'm talking about teachers who don't offer just single workshops but who really accompany a student through the learning and feel responsible for a good education in bellydance.

This isn't meant to be a recommendation!

Are there standards (like the Shaharazad-scheme, which I find pretty good)?

I wish to draw the attention to events and workshops that also might interest people from abroad: Belgium, Netherlands or Czech republic willing to travel etc. etc., major events like a new festival or a bigger contest, meaning: not the local hafla or offers that are directed mainly towards the scene of one town.
