Yes, it's another call for performers -- this time with a little twist. I'm bringing up Joy Herbst of Celadon Tribal for workshops on Sunday, Oct. 18 (more info: jaiyana.com/classes/joyherbst.php ), and we're having a hafli the night before! Oct 17, 2009, 6-8pm, at World Arts in Portland.
There's a twist, though -- this one is Tribal-Themed. No, you don't have to know ATS/ITS. But the original American Tribal Style showcases dancers working together, so let's see your groups!
Choreography welcome, improv encouraged. This is not first-come, first served. Preference given to any sort of group improv - Drum solo pass, mirroring, clumping?
A very limited number of solo slots will be available for fusion performances. Solo performances must reference classic improv tribal in some way -- movement, costuming, music, or some combination. (Please no flamenco or street shoes - be kind to the studio floor.)
Please email your concept & music selection (max 5 minutes) to info@jaiyana.com no later than 10/3 - the sooner the better, slots are limited.
Thanks, and happy dancing!
