TAKING FLIGHT: BASIC VEIL TECHNIQUE

The flowing movement of the veil adds an elegant dimension to belly dance. Students in this beginner/intermediate level course will learn the basic dance techniques moving with a veil.This course will also include an introduction to the cultural and artistic history of veil work in belly dance. This course is suitable for beginner/intermediate belly dance students aged 14 and up with little or no experience working with veils. Students will need to provide their own veil consisting of lightweight material such as Habotai silk. Veils should be 3-3.5 yards long x 45-60” wide.

We will learn basic principles of ballet and then integrate these concepts into the framework of belly dance. Improve your abilities as a dancer & watch your belly dancing take on a new dimension of power, grace, and beauty. Suitable for students with 6+ months of belly dance study.

BELLY DANCE ESSENTIALS
Thursdays 5:45-7:00pm

Experience the joy of this ancient art form & discover why it is so much fun. Students will learn the basic elegant movement vocabulary as well as an introduction to the music and history of this dance form. We will explore short combinations and improvisation as a means of incorporating our technique into dance movement.
