I could have sworn I saw a conversation on here re: Silvex.org. I want 25 yard skirts and they were recommended, but while their prices are almost "too good to be true" I don't like the idea you don't know what you're getting and there's a $200 minimum. Anyone have experience with them? Are they reliable?

Okay. I need to buy 25 yard skirts for me, but don't want to have to pay $100 a skirt, you know? ANY of you ladies out there sell wholesale for bulk orders? (I really want, pretty much, any earthy colors and maybe a red and a purple, so it's going to be about 6 or 7 of them!)

Correction--I can then post it in my studio if I need to order 12 or something like that.

I've heard good things about moondance - reliable, quality, etc. Just don't get the ones that have the circle at the top, as they stretch on the bias.

I ordered a costume that was called the "fire costume." It was a panel skirt with a choli top, and the panels were dyed to look like fire, more or less. There was an expensive veil, as well--and the costume was not cheap. The veil was great. The costume was chintz. Serious chintz. The skirt, even the black alternating panel, was see through and thin (the black was not silk, either, which if it was, I would have understood the thinness), the choli top was unlined and looked unfinished. The colors were not as brilliant as the photo, the costume looked as if it was someone's weekend project for a RenFest. And, at $280, I wasn't happy. The veil, at $50, was worth it.

I contacted her, and she stated that it was too late for a return (yet I had just gotten the costume) but I could use her photo to sell it. I sold it at a loss ($200 was all I could get for it b/c it was so friggin thin).

I don't know if I somehow got a dud, or maybe it wasn't finished and was sent anyway to her and she didnt' have a chance to check it, and I had ordered a brocade costume from her previously and love it, but that was my $280 mistake, and one I will never make again. This was about 2 years ago, at a 50% chance of getting something cheap looking, I'd rather go with someone who is more consistent with quality. At least for me. Again, things may have changed, I may have just gotten a dud, but....

I have a friend who ordered from Scarlet's Lounge and had a similar experience. The costume was waaaaay late, the wrong size and looked like hell. She was told no returns, too.

Hmm. I've ordered one from her, it seems ok, tho I haven't worn it onstage yet. It did arrive in a timely manner, so maybe I was lucky, or you guys just weren't.

                          Hello ladies,
I just wanted to throw my two cents in here to help clear up some things up.
I am currently working with one of the top manufacturers in the industry and the quality and workmanship far exceeds anything I have ever offered before.
As far as the fire costume, I sold that style back in 2003 and it was not made by me, it is actually made by a company called www.craftindia.net, whom I have stopped working with over 2 years ago.
I am sorry if you did not like the quality of the costume, but I wanted everyone to know that my business has come a long way since that time and the quality I offer now is 1000x more superior. I now design my own patterns and have all my fabrics custom dyed. I pick my own fabrics and no longer offer pre-manufactured garments from other wholesale resources.
As far as my return policy, which is always posted in my store, I accept refunds within 7 days for a refund, exchange or store credit. Not sure who you are referring to about that, but this has been my policy for over 5 years now.
If anybody has any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me directly at ScarletsLounge@sbcglobal.net.
When you work on a large customer basis, it is nearly impossible to please everyone but I do my absolute best.
I do have 99.8% positive feedback on ebay, so thats not too shabby, eh?
Thank you for alowing me the opportunity to speak my mind.
Stepping off my soap box now. :)
                          Sincerely,
                          Gina Cabrera

                            Nicely put Gina.
I know I too had to workout a lot of kinks when I started up my website and my ebay store. We all do make mistakes.
Thank you for posting in a kind and professional manner.

Indeed. And as I said, this was a while ago I ordered and things may have changed since then--we have all upgraded over time ;).

At this point, I will also interject and say I just bought a new costume from someone who just bought it from your store (wow...that was wordy) but she lost weight before she could wear it, and am anxious to see it.

We purchased 6 troupe costumes from Scarlet's Lounge about 3 years ago - skirt, vest & veil. They still look great! Soak in Woolite & hang to dry - can't get easier than than!

                            Hi Gina,

                            this is good to know.
"I accept refunds within 7 days"
Is that 7 days after receipt of the costume? becaue everything else would not make that much sense.. even within country that leaves about 3 days of "give way" for problems with delivery. Not that much. And in Europe, I often waited more than 4 weeks for costumes from the US..

Thought I would join in on this thread as I have had some crappy expericnces with silvex in the past and now refuse to do buisness with them.
The $200 minimum was a annoyance but when your package arrives with items missing and then they accusing me of trying to get free goods, I assured them the package was not tampered with and assured them I had not recived the entire order. They treated me like I was stealing, trying to get something out of them that I had not paid for. this was so untrue and I kept mailing them until they relented and sent me my missing items. They did include a few extra peices when the missing goods turned up, which I told them I appriciated. Matter closed! No!
My next order was missing two fringe belts and many arrived in the wrong colour and I have been unable to sell them as the colours are not highly saught after (lime green sent instead of white, kinda thing) They have since refused to deal with me as I have been labled a difficult customer. All I wanted was what I ordered or at least giving the chance to have the goods in the right colours, I am not unrealistic I know stock can run low but they should have contacted me proir to sending out the goods giving me the oppertunity to choose alternative colours.rant over.....

Hey, when they were telling me how they could make my cholis for $10 each, etc, and I asked them about a no-compete contract (meaning you hereby swear legally that you will not sell items made for me from my patterns or sell them to my competitors) they/he reacted as if I were trying to scam them, because 'people here don't use things like that. Our give our word and people trust it' and so on. VERY offended.
Then we find out they were using copyrighted pictures from Us companies for their entire web page. I KNOW I dodged a bullet there.

Lots of tribe folks got branded 'difficult' when they objected to wrong orders and poor merchandise. If you can't provide what's pictured as pictured, don't use that picture, dude. Take some pics of your own items, unless you don't want us to see what we're actually buying. I've never been so glad to have not gone shopping!

I have done business with them and some of their stuff is okay and some isn't that great. You just never know until you get it. I'm not sure what exactly you are looking for, but I have beautiful cotton skirts that have a 33 yard ruffle. These skirts are great for spinning. You can check out my website at www.halimasdesigns.com or you can email me at halimasdesigns@msn.com if you would like more information. I have a lot more stock than what is listed on my website, it's just taking me forever to get things photographed and on line, so if you are looking for something special, just let me know.

BEWARE! Silvex is TERRIBLE!!! Dishonest and does not send same merchandise as what is advertised. Sends poor quality items , bad patterns, cheaply made and barely wearable. He has been known to hold customer's money for ransom and not give refunds even though he sends you the wrong things.
Ypu may think his prices are too good to be true and they are! He also has a history of stealing other peoples photos and using as his own. You may think your saving money, but you will actually end up throwing away your money along with the cheap products he sends to you.
He likes to "borrow" photos of costumes and advertise for sale on his site, once you order you will realise that it is not the same quality as what is shown in the photo, you will receive a cheap copy badly hand sewn and falling apart at the seams.
Whoever trained this guy should not be in this business. Be extremely careful when dealing with certain overseas sellers.

I received a Scarlet's Lounge costume today. This has been a bit of an epic - I bought it in December, the first one Gina sent went missing and it has taken a while to get the second one. While I think communication could have been a bit more frequent, she was really lovely to deal with, very interested in having a happy customer, and the costume is just stunning. It's been a very good outcome!
