highly recommended instructional DVDs for the following:

-Vinyasa Flow Yoga

-Bollywood

-Bhangra

I've been scouring the web as much as possible, but video selections don't often come with a "this is for bellydance" option. :P
Tomorrow I'm headed to the library to see what's there that might help, but any and all suggestions will be really appreciated!

I have a DVD by Shiva Rea that I really like (Yoga Shakti) and she has a whole bunch of Vinyasa Flow Yoga DVDs. I've heard pretty much any one by her is good.

Also, Erich Schiffmann was recommended by Rachel Brice on her Amazon recommendations list (there is some of his stuff on the above link, too).

Gary Kraftsow's viniyoga DVDs for the upper and lower back are really good if either of those are a problem area for you that you really need to loosen up and strengthen for belly dance (or just for general health.) He also came recommended by Rachel Brice in the same list and in a workshop I took with her.

      Thanks (and hooray for amazon.com!)

I'd heard about Gary Kraftsow's DVDs, but I wasn't exactly sure if "viniyoga" was the same as vinyasa flow! Learning something new everyday!

You wouldn't happen to own "Yoga for Wellness" as well, hm? I'm pretty sure I've read a post somewhere that suggests using a few techniques out of that book for a conditioning/drilling exercise.

Honestly, I'm not sure if viniyoga and vinyasa flow are the same/related either! :)

Yes, I have the Yoga for Wellness book and like it a lot.

I have watched the vinyasa shakti videos and I have the viniyoga, they are not the same. The viniyoga videos are far gentler. Viniyoga can be found on Amazon or on his website.

Okay, added all of that to my list! :D

But what should I start with first? I figure starting gentle and then building up would be a good idea, which is why I've already gotten a few hatha yoga DVDs, and Bellydance Fitness Fusion With Suhaila: Yoga. Is Vinyasa more advanced than hatha, or are they just two completely different systems?

Thanks, Brittany! I also found this: tribes.tribe.net/bellydanc...f3ae1df2d9
Tee-hee, maybe I should search the threads a little more. :D

I loved Meissoun's facial expressions in the videos on Youtube! She's pretty much got the vibe of bollywood right, lol!

Ohhhh, and what about Hemalayaa? Does anyone have anything by her? I figure her stuff is going to be like the Neena and Veena-style of DVD, but that's fine.

Do you have access to netflix? You can rent a lot of the Shakti dvd's from there.

I like Hemalayaa but her stuff is more fun, I have not tried her yoga DVD's though. I find Neena and Veena to be completely boring.

          I have Netflix! :D

As soon as I get my address changed and all that jazz, I'm going to check'um all out! Pretty much everything is on there!

          Thanks, Jhess! :)
