Hello ladies! I'm so sorry there hasn't been a weekly q in a while! Going insane trying to buy a condo plus getting ready and taking extra hours to save for Tribal Fest! So here's one for ya though!
What's your favourite bellydance music! artists and suchness!
Also... what's your favourite music in general! and do you find yourself belly dancing to it?
Luvs!

Re: Weekly Q:
04/30I am very big on my hip-hop, electronica, & drum solos, I'm still trying to aquire a taste for the balkin style music by dipping my toes into some vaudevillian style music. Right now, I am experimenting with classical.

Re: Weekly Q:
04/30Right now I'm hooked on the new Beats Antique CD... yummy!
I love instrumental medieval (maybe? I hate to classify these...) sounding music- Stellamara, Corvus Corax... Djinn is awesome as well. I'm trying to expand my music collection at the moment... Knossos, Blind Divine, Solace, Jamundo....
While I like some cabaret musicians, I have a tendency to lean towards more fusion-y type music. But I love Issam Houshan's CDs... and Carmine Guida's Drum Solo CD.
For music in general... you mean there's other music than bellydance music? *GASP!*
I like rock and alternative, some punk and heavy metal. It depends on the metal- I don't like screamers! :) I do find myself dancing to it- the other day I was dancing to Three Days Grace- "Pain" (or whatever it's called- and dancing to it was oddly cathartic! :) -

Ah! I was thinking the same thing regarding Pain by TDG!!! My lil sis actually caught me dancing to it and told me it was cool but to stop cause her friends were over! LOL! -

Re: Weekly Q:
04/30My friend Glenna was going to do a solo to Pain but found Jill Tracy... I'd love to do a gothic solo to it but I think the good ol' Southerners around here might start grabbing torches and pitchforks! lol :)

Re: Weekly Q:
05/05Oh boy, it changes and expands all the time but here is some of my stuff. I have found that a lot of what I enjoy all the time is also great to dance to, so there is not a lot of separation.
Just got the new Bassnectar, Nyaz, Yothu Yindi, Kan'nal, Robert Plant, Midnight Oil, Hossam Ramzy, Dean Can Dance, Delierium, Afro Celt Soundsystem, Bob Marley and the Whalers, Bela Fleck, Jethro Tull, Rodrigo e Gabriela, Tipsy, Combustable Edison, Electric Oasis, ...
and still expanding my lists, everyday. I am hoping to pick up some of Solace's music soon as well as Man Man and some of the other new stuff that folks are talking about.

Re: Weekly Q:
05/05Awesome, Dian! I thought I was the only one who thought Combustible Edison was fabulous bellydance music!
As for my other favorites: DeVotchKa, Beastie Boys, Gogol Bordello, Helm (the new CD "Spice Box" is great), The Toids, Cheb I Sabbah, Omar Faruk Tekbilek, Man Man, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Clash, Deee-Lite, Primus, Ozomatli, Ramasutra, Propellerheads... I could go on for days.
