Does anyone know anything about this song? Or CDs that include it? I have the versions from "The Masters of Bellydance" and "Casbah Bellydance."

Thanks!

I have a version of it on Belly Dance For Arabian Nights by Abbud Abdel Aal & His Golden Strings, which I got from Hollywood Music Center. Love the CD altogether.

There are several versions available through iTunes. I like the Zein al Jundi version. It's a dabke-song talking about...love! (who'd have guessed). I also own the cd Ayperi mentions and it's great. I'd love to have the transcription and/or translation so I could sing it.

It is also played as saidi, named "Shashkin".

When I went to an Egyptian wedding in 2007, the DJ included this song in his playlist. He played it 4-5 times over the course of a single evening. Every time he played it, the teen-age guys would form one line and the teen-age girls another, with the two lines facing each other. In time to the music, each line would walk forward three steps and pause on count 4 with one knee lifted, then walk backward three steps and pause on count 4 with one knee lifted. (So that the two lines would come toward each other on the forward steps, and away from each other on the backward steps.) By the time they would come forward the third or fourth time, the lines would disintegrate and they would return to normal social-dance style of belly dancing.

And for those who may wonder, Egyptians do the macarena the same way we do!
