Here are some lines translated. Van anyone tell me if this would be an appropriate song to dance to? it's very danceable, but i'm not sure if it would be offensive. I can't find anyone who speaks Urdu.

“Say Allah Allah/ Don’t hurt another/He’s the Lord of the World/Say His name over & over”

“Those who make ornaments of lies/erase truth/Those who lie/encounter hardship”

“Walk the ways of truth/don’t hurt another/Say the name of the One/Lord of the World”

“Broken mirrors can be mended/Broken hearts cannot/[Undecipherable verse]/When love’s trust is broken/Don’t be cruel/Don’t hurt another/Say the name of the One/Lord of the World”

    Hi Katerina:
IMHO, please choose another song. I know this song and agree it is indeed very danceable but it's far too sensitive to perform to out in the general public. If you had situations where you could perform just for friends, classmates or family knowing they're not Muslim, that would be a different story; again, in my humble opinion. I hope this helps. =O)

    Haaappy shimmies,

Yeah, I agree. BUT, if the song is not religious in it's content (a religious song adapted by Niyaz), and simply only references Allah (as many songs do: "O God...* fill in the blank*...), then I'd certainly be bold enough to do it, but ONLY if I had concrete evidence to support my decision (ie: lyrics!). Right now, it's questionable, so I won't -- but I'm dying to!!

If you read the inside of the album, I think it says this is an old persian ghazal - basically I'm pretty sure it's a religious song that shouldn't be used.

Yes, I did. I'm just looking for a literal translation, not an excerpt. That's the only way to know for sure.

I dont know guys...I know this is a very spiritual song, but is that a reason to not celebrate it? The message is good, one all can agree on no matter what they believe. If anyone would get upset over someone dancing to a song that promotes good, then what is the use of listening to it? My friend and I are attempting it, and I see no reason not to. Every lyric or rift of a song can be deeply spiritual to someone regardless of whether or not it is stating it obviously or if its based on a feeling. Spread the love. Besides, should religion & spirituality be so sloemn that we have to enjoy and praise only internally, and privately, not through our movements or any other way we may be so inclined to? I think not.
