Translation for "El Bint El Libnaniyye"?

It's a Lebanese song which means: "Oh! That Lebanese Girl!"

I'm dancing at a Lebanese festival next month and would like to use it. I am 99% sure that it is fine for dancing since it is on a CD specifically intended for bellydance, but I'd still like to know what is being said.

The Arabic part of "Yalil" by Mickey 3D, anyone?

I really like the song Yalil (Le Fin Des Haricots) by the French pop-rock band Mickey 3D.

Part of the lyrics are in French, and part of them are in Arabic. I can speak French fluently, so I know what the French lyrics are saying. But would any Arabic speakers here be willing to tell me what the Arabic lyrics say?

I have a bunch of translations for this, plus many permutations of the spelling but can't seem to find who composed it. I read about the version by Ahmed Adaweya, but Adaweya was a singer not a writer, or am I wrong? He seemed to perform many tracks by other composers..... Song titled "Minoush"

I am finally (after 4 year s of dancing) trying to become brave enough to do a solo. I have recently come across a song called "Minoush" off the Gypsy Fire CD that I really like. Mezdeke 5, track called "Keyf" -- singer??

I'm hoping my tribe buddies can help me out. I fell in love with a Sa'idi song on a compilation CD I bought from a dancer who will remain nameless. I contacted her to see if she knew who the singer was, and she told me that the track was from the Mezdeke 5 CD. Further research revealed that the track is called "Keyf" on the original CD. The song is here if you want to listen to it:

I can understand enough of the lyrics to know what the song is about -- it's bragging about being a Sa'idi, and there are some flattering/flirtatious things being said to a woman. Would love to identify the singer in hopes of finding some more great songs from him. Any help would be appreciated. And, of course, if someone has already translated the lyrics, that would save a lot of time.

Recently I bought a home burnt CD from a Turkish dance teacher at a workshop. It has the song "Ederlezi" on it among others, and I absolute love it. I'm looking for a general idea of what "Abu Ali" is about. Doris Farhat sings it on Oriental Fever 6. Maqam.com has a short sound sample, but it doesn't include very much of the lyrics. I will try to find a better sample.

3 new Turkish translations on Shira.net

I've added three new translations for Turkish songs on Shira.net:

* Sallasana Mendillini (appears on "Magic of John Bilezikjian" and "Hope" by Brothers of the Baladi)
* Kil Oldum by Tarkan
* Yine Sensiz by Tarkan

All three of these translations were done by Eva, who goes by the name"aasiyah" on some parts of the net.

Three new song translations on Shira.net from Arabic to English

Today, I added three new translations of Arabic songs to my web site. They include:

* Eddam El Kel. Pop music by Darine Hadchiti. Includes a brief MP3 clip so you can hear what the song sounds like.
* Ma Bi3od Balaki. Sung by Ilyas Karam. Alas, no clip of this one.
* Maghroura. An older pop song with a debke beat sung by Wael Kfouri. Includes a brief MP3 clip so you can hear what the song sounds like. It appears this song has also been recorded by Mohammed Abdo (either that, or the same name is used for two different songs; I haven't heard the Mohammed Abdo version), but Tahseen used the Wael Kfoury version for his translation.

In the course of going back through my backlog of stuff for my web site waiting to be posted, I found some translations that Tahseen Alkoudsi sent me in 2005 and earlier that I had never gotten organized enough to post on my site. So even though Tahseen died in 2006, I'll be posting a few more translations that he did. Seems like a fitting way to honor his memory!

There are 119 song translations on my web site, many of which include brief music clips and comments on the background / history of the song or the singer who made it popular.
