Hi All

I have just managed to purchase a balanced sword and thought I'd share. The sword is fantastic and looks and feels like the real Mccoy. It has amazing balance. I have put some photos of me using it in my profile album for anyone who is interested in what they look like.

To legally purchase a balanced sword for belly dance :-

If you want to order a sword like mine, you need to contact Lynne at piecesofhistory@hotmail.com. You need to scan and send her a copy of either your driving license or passport, proof of public liability insurance and proof you are a Bellydancer (I sent a link to my tribe profile and my teachers email if they wanted further confirmation). . It's the Cas Iberia scimitar and costs £111.60p including shipping.

Further details of the scimitar can be found at www.casiberia.com/product_details.asp

The sword is fantastic but I should warn you, it's quiet heavy!

I just want to stress that it is only 'Pieces of History' that is prepared to sell swords to bellydancers at the moment. There may be more companies out there, but I am not aware of them.
Also the title to my post maybe misleading - the law at the moment makes it illegal to SELL swords not to purchase them! what 'Pieces of History' have done is decided to take a risk and supply dancers that are prepared to provide them with the desired documentation. It does mean you need public liability insurance to purchase them BUT to be honest you should really have this if you are sword dancing in public anyhow.
The sword I purchased is excellent. It looks good and there is definatley a difference in quality to the ever popular Baladi sword. However it is very heavy and while I prefer that, it may not be for everyone and you'll not be able to change your mind once you've purchased it. My feelings were, I'd relearn or re-educate myself with a heavier sword and it's worked for me!
