Whether we talk about dance or libraries, I thought it would be fun for us to gather. I know there's already more than enough places to discuss the various aspects of just being bellydancers, but it might be nice to talk about the various aspects of being bellydancing librarians.

Wed, March 8, 2006 - 8:47 AMThanks Charity! I read (and thoroughly enjoy) your posts on other Librarian Tribes and am so excited to see that you created this Tribe for those of us who Bellydance.
I have been a Librarian for almost 14 years - started in Academics as a Reference/BI Librarian and now am a Law Librarian. I have been bellydancing for 6 years! Wow, how time flies. I began my dance life studying traditional Egyptian/Folkloric and eventually found ATS and Tribal Fusion. I am a member of Gypsy Red Tribe, a Tribal Fusion music and dance ensemble in Birmingham, Alabama.
Would love to hear about what drew everyone to Librarianship.

I briefly considered Law Librarianship, to work specifically as a Prison/ Correctional Facilities Librarian. But now, I'm just interested in general outreach, which includes prisons and much more.

Thu, April 20, 2006 - 7:49 AMHi All! I joined this tribe awhile ago and figured it is time to speak up! I am a library student at USF in Florida. I should be graduating in December and am either looking to be a children's librarian or possibly work at a museum. It was great to find this tribe...there are so many of us out there!
Anyway, I dance with LOUD ZOO, we do ATS style improv to live music. Check out our tribe...we are an interesting bunch. :)
...hey Helen, my troupe has been to the Birmingham improv festival in the past...
Anyway, I look forward to speaking with you all..

Thu, April 20, 2006 - 8:03 AMHi. I decided to go back to school and get my MLS. So I just started that in January. I have been bellydancing for a couple of years now. I am always surprised about how many of my fellow bellydancers are involved with the library. So this is a great place to connect with other bellydancing librarians. :)

I've been away for a while, adjusting to my new life in Wales. But now that I'm dancing again and have my first professional librarian job, I'll hopefully be around more often.
