Woohoo! I'm going to be the corporate librarian for a big corporation. Which comes as a complete and utter shock, BTW. When I applied for the position I figured there was no way in hell they'd hire me, since I come from a purely academic background. But they sent me an offer yesterday! I guess there's hope for people with classics degrees after all.
FYI-- they said the reason they hired me was 1) my knowledge of preservation and conservation (I wouldn't have picked that as being high on their priority list since it wasn't in the job description) and 2) My familiarity with searching online databases such as Lexis-Nexis and Dialog. 3) My familiarity with using an offsite storage contractor.
Interviewing for a corporate librarian job is a lot different from the academic and museum positions I've interviewed for. The corporate interviewers don't ask any of those tricky philosophical questions--they're way more short and to the point. And if you do go into a corporate interview, drop the library slang because you probably won't be interviewed by anyone with an MLS--and they won't know what the hell you're talking about. ;O) The person who interviewed me was an engineer. The whole atmosphere of the interview was WAY casual--no two day interview process like in academics. And you can negotiate on salary, which is great. I was scared to death when I went into that interview, but it was one of the most casual I've ever been on.

And thanks for the great tips. My roommate (a recent MLIS graduate) is having a hell of a time right now. Week before last, she got 4 rejections.
This term, I'm taking Collection Development, Research Methods for LIS, and Intructional Methods for Librarians, and all of them keep reiterating the importance of knowing your audience. Never thought about applying that to an interview, but it makes a lot of sense!
And boy, am I glad that I took that Advanced Online Searching class last term, and am getting a special workshop in preservation this term. No clue about offsite storage, though! :-p -
