1) BELLY will have it’s Idaho Premiere at the Idaho International Film Festival the weekend of September 25th-28th here in Boise, Idaho. This much awaited documentary is an intimate peek into the personal lives of several belly-dancers who have been profoundly affected by this unique dance form. 2) To help raise funds so that “BELLY” can get to be represented in nationwide film festivals, StarBelly creations will be having a fashion show and vending new designs at the Shangri-La Tea Room between 4-6pm on Saturday September 20th. Updates to come.

3) “BELLY” will screen at the 1st annual Washougal International Film Festival on August 21st at 11:30 am at the Town Square, screen “A” in Washougal Washington, which is about ½ hour outside of Portland, OR. BELLY updates 5-9-08

BELLY is finished editing except for some song rights still in negotiation. As of today there is only a handful of copies in existence and those have been submitted to film festivals.

I am hoping that if it screens at some festivals that the dancers from that area will come and help me fill the theater. Seeing a film at a film festival is different then seeing a movie. The filmmaker is usually there, and it is more like a performance in a way. So it would be a really fun belly-dance event to fill a theater with sister (and brother) dancers, maybe have an after party with dancing, and show the filmmaking community how popular and important the dance is.

BELLY a feature length documentary by Full Tilt Boogie, and Cecilia Rinn’s feature directorial debut is almost complete. Local Erik Sandmeyer is working on composing an original score for the film, and Dennis Carr of New Mexico is mastering the audio while Chad & Cecilia are working on the press kit and a film festival/promotion strategy. When ever I am deep into editing, I feel like I am spending all this time with people, but really I am just spending time with their image and voice. Maybe I haven't talk to them in months, but I feel like we have been having a week long slumber party. It's strange really.

Editing started

Winter is the perfect time to sit here in my PJs ( my WARM PJs) and edit for hours. Which I am just about to start to do. Chad and I need to finish edited a short documentary about a wonderful all women show from Nov of 2004 called "Fire & Isis". There was 13 hours of footage and I want to get it down to 20 minutes, which is tough with all the beautiful images that Chad from Full Tilt Boogie and Terry, Sherri and Pat from The Reel Woem of the West filmed. The rough cut is ready for review and should be finished up next week. Also we finished edited the final version of "Half Ass Jig" which will be available on DVD soon and air on Local TVTV.

But very soon here I will be seriously getting into putting this storu together.

So if anyone has any input, or events or stories that may add interst to the BELLY documentary please contact me.

I am getting so excited!!!!

Aladdin’s New Hookah Bar

It is awesome it serves alcohol, Great food, Movies and Yes belly Dancers miss Cecilia, and Robin preformed at the grand opening. It has great Hookah, and it appeals to an older more respectful crowd. Plus did I mention the food…. Awesome…You Need to Check it out and You need to dance at it…It is a great place to hang out, socialize and chill. Plus Abraham is sweet as hell. Try the Egyptian mango. Plus!! The Pretty lady working there Julianna is an awesome Flamenco Dance and instructor she is heading to Mexico for a couple weeks to perform when she returns she is going to be teaching a workshop I will get the details later. So is October Crazy or What?

I feel like have accomplished nothing this month except for chasing my self around in so many circles, that I finally caught my tail. So how is everyone else’s month going? I got a call last night from one of my old case workers. One of my past foster kids ran away. They wanted to know if I had any idea where he went. It has been like a year since this kid left. I told the case worker he probably is trying to find a safe place since she sent him home. She gasp and hung up on me. I wonder if the adoption team will frown on this. We'll any how I want to know about everybody elses month. Lets chat

Dear Chad & Cecilia,

You guys did such fantastic work! You're short was entertaining and meaningful. Everyone really did such a great job. The actors were great, the production was tight. It really had this comic book feeling.

Watching myself on screen was not as bad as I thought. Especially with your great camera work & Cecilias kick-ass costuming skills. I really loved being Jungle Girl!

I would love to work with you again. It was really an honor to be a part of your project. Thank you! Great work! Keep it up!

"Captain Cannibal" a short film by Full Tilt Boogie, the 4th in the "Work In Sanity" series will be screened at the 2006 Idaho International Film Festival September 30th and October 1st as part of the Local Heroes-Made In Idaho Short Films program. The beautiful and talented belly dancer Itheyla stars as “Jungle Girl”.

Fundraiser

It was incredible; it hit many emotions on high levels, excitement, intrigue, love, peace and amazement. I was by far the best fundraiser I have attended yet. The atmosphere was comfortable and every one was beautiful. Thank you for the show. You should do them again and again and again.

Stories of Belly Dancers from small town U.S.A

Full Tilt Boogie Productions LLC, a motion picture firm based out of Boise Idaho, is beginning production on a feature length documentary titled Belly.

Belly examines the lives of several women from different belly dance troupes located throughout the Pacific Northwest. Through this process Belly explores the multi faceted lives of these women; mothers, spouses, professionals, and community members, and the effect that belly dancing has had on their hopes, dreams, expectations, and the outcome of their lives as lived through their dance. Through this tapestry of personal experience Belly follows specifically the story of Sunnie, a belly dancer who, for the first time, prepares to compete in a national belly dance competition.

Full Tilt Boogie LLC will be holding a benefit to help raise the funding necessary to carry us through the production phase of the documentary. This event will feature performances by local Cairo Fusion with guest dancers including Mahisha from Colorado Springs, It will also feature a trailer for the Belly documentary as well as examples of the filmmakers past work. This is a unique opportunity to get to know the filmmakers as well as lend support to a distinctive grassroots film project.
