What I love about this eclectic dancer is the fact she does not put herself into one category. She dances and fuses all styles in her performances. Admits to dancing to anything from Natacha Atlas to Godsmack. I love her energy, spirit, and open mind to truly push the boundaries to their ultimate limits.

She is one of few dancers who let me know it is okay to push the envelope and that although tradition is a wonderful thing to embrace, you must remember dance is fun and all forms are beautiful.

belly dance bra and belt for sale 34C

This is a hand made costume. Both bra and belt are lined. The bra will fit a 34 C. The bra is very sturdy will hold it's shape well.
This costume will work great for new students, hobbyist, class recitals, parties photos and performances.
This is an original one of a kind costume. May see photos in my pics on page 1.

The bra will fit a 34 C. The bra cups are covered in a pink colored fabric with pink bugle beads sewn into the fabric. The bra is trimmed in a gold sequin gimp trim. The bra has beaded fringe made from pink seed beads that hangs about 4 3/4 inches long in groups of three .The neck straps are about 34 inches long and tie in a criss cross manner with D rings. The side panels are covered in a pink color velvet fabric(as well as the neck straps I would like to add) The side panels have D rings attach to the ends to add closure for the bra. The is bra is lined and very sturdy will hold it's shape.

The belt is cover in the same pink beaded fabric and gold trim as the bra cups. . The belt is one piece and is a tie front as if it were a hip sash . (has a bit more weight to it than a hip sash) The belt has an elastic casing in the back that can be gather to help with a better fit around the hips for a dancer with curves. The belt is 35 inches long. The belt will fit a small to medium . the belt can be sized down before I send it if you would like it smaller. The fringe is made from pink colored seed beads like on the bra and is about 5 3/4 inches long. This is a nice set sparkles well in light and good movement with the fringe Email with any questions and more photos. Goddess bellydancer meet up

Its a work in progress. I'm working on the first BBBD Meet-Up that will hopefully happen next year. I'm a little skinny (skinny lol) on details as of yet as to where it will be but it will happen. This is open for discussion as to what people would like to have in this meet. We will have workshops with some of our big beautiful bellydancer, performances, vending( is very possible still working on that) and a last night banquet send off with free dance.
If you have any request I would love to hear them and i will see what i can do.
Is this something we are ready for? Who would love to join us in a few days of fun and sisterhood. (Male big beautiful bellydancers welcome too.)
P.S. If your willing to teach a workshop let me know. I'm trying to get diffrent workshops togeather in my book.

OK, I know this is Mamma Bragging, but I don't care. My youngest girls' class is amazing! I was SOOOO proud of my little girls at Cairo Carnivale. The youngest just turned seven and the oldest is 12 (I also have a teen troupe, but I'll brag on them another time). They all did the choreography so well, and every last one of them smiled for the whole thing. They were and always are absolutely fabulous.

MPO she is the best ATS and fusion teacher in San Diego. With a big plus+++she is hot hot hot. Sometimes in class I get distracted watching her because she will be showing us a move that involves her butt and then I tune her out because my head is saying "look at her butt, beautiful, I wish my butt could do that, it's perfectly propotioned, I want my butt to look like that when it grows up.
Sabrina is a beautiful person, both inside and out. I feel so lucky to have her in my city, so I can learn from one of the best......and I get to look at her butt!

I looked, and I didn't see these women listed.

I know that in my dance career, I am no where near done meeting all the possible teachers and mentors that I will have before I am too old or decrepit to do this any more..

The lovely ladies of Unmata (and Hot Pot Studio in general), do indeed embrace a certain different kind of beauty, and it's not the whole hairy armpit thing either.
Its an individual kind of beauty... one that in my humble opinion all women should have about themselves; it's the kind of beauty that comes when someone loses their vanity and realizes that their personal beauty lies deeper within themselves than just the reflection in the mirror.

What's more... is that everyone who steps foot into their studio and classrooms are treated with the same kind of vainless beauty and seen with those same eyes.
Size, shape, color, condition, orientation, etc.... seem to all be left outside in the parking lot and not seen at all.
What's more, is that after a time, you begin to look at yourself and the world around you in the same way.... only noone has told you to, there was no pressure in it at all.

Then there is that unmistakable style. But even beyond the style, there is an underlying current of encouragement, positive reinforcement and the right amount of patience that everyone needs.

I could just gush over every single one of my teachers to date for all the various things that I have learned, in lessons that didn't necessarily come from their mouths...
But, I think I'll just gush on these ladies today.

unsung heroines

Well I was thinking of this and most of the dancers that are mentioned have a bit of notoriaty which is AWESOME but there are a few that I really think are kick ass dancers that no one has mentioned.

One is a bit famous, Alexandra King. Did you see her dance at Tribal CAravan? Wow! I love her, she is so poised and professional. She showed the youngin's how to do it!!! Once I was dancing at a little local event in Ventura (Mecda, I don't know what it's called), and we were on right after her. I got to watch from the wings, I was nearly in tears she was sooooo good!

Then there are a couple of local L.A. dancers I really admire (there are a lot but these are two of my personal favs).
Kashmir-magnetic, exotic, just so earthy and real and natural and I love her dancing!
Olu- I would us the exact same words I used to describe Kashmir.

What inspires you?

Besides good dancing.

I am very inspired by dancers who are confident in their ability, yet gracious and humble. There is a dancer (I don't know her personally) that I don't like specifically because she is always talking about how great she is all the time, and acts like the entire world owes her for the existence of belly dance. I am blinded to any talent she may have simply because she believes her own press too much.

But give me a dancer who is incredibly talented and makes all the rest of us feel out of shape yet builds everyone around her up...dancers like Amy or Rachel Brice, Ariellah, Princess Farhana...that's what inspires me to be a better dancer.

First Performance

I began taking lessons in May. I feel I am ready for my first performance but I am having a hard time deciding what style is best for me. I really enjoy tribal and everything it stands for but my lessons are in Egyptian Cabaret. I really need the opinion of the veteran dancers. What do you do about jerk-asses while you're dancing?

So last night, we saw this great young bellydancer at the local hookah bar. The show went well, except for the jerk-ass guys in the audience who kept whistling and trying to dance with her (I overheard one make a comment about a lap-dance). Boy, did she ever look pissed when she left! Guess it's just my area...those guys prolly never seen a real bellydancer before. I really felt for her and gave her a couple of good zahgareets in support.
So, what do you do about pervs and dumb-asses in the audience when they start oogling you and treating you like a $10 stripper?

tribal vs cabaret

ok maybe that isn't the best title for this thread, but let's be honest, some people think there may be some negativity between the different styles. I personally don't feel negative about different styles, I love all dancing from beginners to super stars. I think it is all valid and I learn so much from watchiing others dance even if I do it differently.

Dance to me is love in action, it's moving prayer, it's my spiritual practice. So even if I have my personal preferences, I can't see it negatively.

What do you all think?

This is my thanks and praise to a few of the beautiful beings I have met and seen dance.

I somehow got the amazing opportunity to connect with so many beautiful dancers in the past couple of years.

I want to first thank Kerri, Stephanie, Meliza & Kirsten, who were my first introduction as a DJ to the bellydance community. After dancing with me at a show at Ashkenaz a couple years back, they invited me to spin at Beneath the Veil. My goodness was that an amazing night. My first gig as a DJ playing to a full house. Nervous? Me? yes, quite. I loved and remember that night fondly. And I got invited back for Beneath the Veil 2 the following year. Yeay.

Then Jill of Ultra Gypsy, afrer having done a couple of shows with her, invited me to spin at Undulation. Another massive "Hello, this is Amar" opportunity to meet all you great girls & guys. Jill has always inspired me with her performances from the beginning to now. She's innovative and smooth, and always grabs my attention when she's dancing.

Fred - I've posted about her alot already. She totally inspires me with her unique style, and is just extremely beautiful in so many ways - her performances, her music mixes, her wit & humor. This girl Rocks.

Shawna - Shawna was the first soloist to improv with me. At the time, I didn't know her - and it was a good thing because I would have been so much more nervous mixing music for her had I seen her dance before. Second time I saw her was as the Jabberwocky at the Blood Moon Regal's Dark Wonderland. Talk about a Badd Ass performer. Next I see her at Tribal Fest extending her beauty into an elegant piece fusing traditional idian dance with tribal belly dance. She does it flawlessly. And she can burp like a toad (Fred has competition)

Amy, Luna, April & the Unmata girls -
I had the awesome opportunity to spin at the afterparty for te Blood Moon Regal's Dark Wonderland last year, and got to see some amazing performances and hang with some Fun girls. from the performance to the afterparty to the after-after party to brunch, it was an amazing time. Unmata choreographed an amazing show, every performance was just rockin. From Lorraine performing the White Rabbit to Sam as the wicked Cheshire cat to Katie Kay to Amy to Luna to Shawna to Bastet to Shabnam, etcetera etcetera etcetera.
Another highlight of my Tribal fest 6 experience was Unmata coming up on stage during my DJ set on Sunday afternoon. "I Bow to thee - i'm not worthy, i'm not worthy"

Sabrina - just f-ing amazing, inspiring, beautiful in every way.
She is a passionate soul and expresses her passion with fierce energy

Sabrina, Medi and Atash Maya are an amazing troupe. First time I saw Medi dance was with the sisterhood at TFF. Jaw dropping performance. And then at TF6 with Atash Maya. Another awesome performance. I got to meet Steven too at TF. He is totally amazing too. Sweet guy and brilliant dancer.

I met Asharah, Mavi, Belladonna & Maduro at TF6. All beutiful and inspiring.
Romka's performance was sweet and rockin.
Asharah blew my mind with her performance. It wa a highlight of Tribal Fest.
Maduro is just an amazing producer and human being. His music is brilliant, and his heart is genuine and sharing. I love my new friends from DC.

Elizabeth Strong - uh, duh, can't even describe her in words. ok, one word: WOW!
totally unique style and wowing beauty on stage. Also an amazingly sweet soul.

Zoe - She just rocks, kicks ass ... She just Kicks! I Love her. She's an inspiring performer with some serious stage presence and a badd ass style. Nothing like her.

Mira - yet another beeyoootiful dancer and person. Her performances amaze me. Last couple of shows I got to see her up close and personal performing solo. Again, Wow!

Ayse - saw her at Tribal Fusion Faire, and was like "WHoa, who is that?"
I was captured by her expression and the way she moves. Damn! In fact, all of the girls with the Sister hood put on a brilliantly cohesive piecs.

Katie Kay - at Dark Wonderland, then TFF, then TF6 - Meowwww! Got to see her in 3 completely different elements with completely different styles - I Loved all performances. Crazy fun sweetheart too.

The 3 Rachels:
Rachel from Clandestine, Rachel Lazarius, Rachel Brice.
All beautiful and brilliant in their own way. All uniquely inspiring.

Beth, Sue, Rachel, Amy - Clandestine.
These girls rock seriously. Awesome dancers, sweet girls & community builders extraordinaire. These girls take their art another step forward by putting it out there for positive causes. I connected with them through Fred, and can't imagine not having them around. From the Madad benefit to the NYE benefit, they share their love with the universe and help make this owrld a better place. and I LOVED their Bling Bling performance on NYE and at TFF. I have such a fun time with those girls.

Heather, Sara & Urban Tribal - Innovative cutting edge dancers and the best girls evah. I'm so glad to know them, and can't wait to do more with them. They alays pull something new out of their hats. They are amazing and graceful and slick. I Love those girls.

Ariellah - I met this girl in Portland at East Meets West a couple months ago, and had to pick my jaw up of the floor after her performance. Then I met this beautiful spirit - wow! She's just f-ing amazing. Can't wait to see her dance again.

Haven - When I found out she was moving to SF from Arizona, I nabbed her quickly. I met this bad ass beautiful girl here at Undulation. Then saw her dance in Arizona. I had to get her to dance at our show. She has graced Electric Vardo with her beauty on stage, and is now dancing with me and SooozhyQ. I feel so lucky. Yeay. I love her energy and spunk onstage and off. Yaa Haven!

Dance friends

However, I have to give praise to the people we dance with. Troupe mates, duet, trio partners...etc...
These women with whom we share a common ground. Offer encouragement, praise, support.. and even the kick in the pants we all need from time to time.

I love the way this tribe has turned into such a positive environment so I've decided that we must also bring our wonderful students to light! I'll be the first to say that I have such a great group of grrls that I work with in Costa Mesa. They are so loving and kind to one another, care about each other's well being and accept each other for who they are and whatever level they are at. I'm so proud to say that my students truly understand the "Spirit of the Dance" and remind me of it every time we meet. They are a true blessing to share movement, space and energy with!

Back to the beautiful Bellydancers...this time my victim is Tempest.

I don't know her as well as Sashi, but from the encounters iv'e had, she is not only an amazing costumer and dancer, but a really cool gal.

The corset belt is such an amazing, classic design...you just can't do better than that!

Her sense of style is just so fantastic, which I appreciate as a fellow lover of silent movie heroines and art deco style.

Not to mention all the other cool stuff she does in her "spare" time...

This tribe is a really cool idea! it's going to be nice to have a forum where negativity is just plain unacceptable.

I wanted to start close to home first and post an appreciation for my very own instructor, Sashi(Of the Great Winged Controversy of '06). I try not to post too much about how much I admire her and how much she inspires me, as I am her student and probably lack some credibility in that respect.... :p but she is truly one of the most remarkable people and dancers I have ever met.

The whole controversy over her TF6 performance really affected me, and made me realize how absolutely cruel and judgemental people are capable of being. Reading comments from "She doesn't know how to dance, she's just using the pierced wings for shock value and to get attention" to "WHY does she do this to herself" to "those piercings are going to be infected and cause scarring".

I was there for the WHOLE preparation, including the piercing, performance, and post performance, and i know FOR A FACT that 99.9% of the negative things that were conjectured about her and her motives were completely UNTRUE. She is a fabulous and very experienced dancer, a very spiritual person who cares deeply about others, and the piercing was a very intense, yet positive and dare i say..even moving experience that was not for the faint of heart. Her only intention was to share something exotic and beautiful with the dance community. If Ive learned nothing else from this experience, the main thing is..when I feel like judging someone, I try to step outside myself and ask what it is I'm afraid of.

( I know your'e wondering about the .1 % that wasn't untrue...i would say that would be that it is true that she did intend put on a memorable performance, which I believe is something she was rightly accused of. ;) )

The only reason Ive never said this before is because i do feel like I lack credibility, as a student of hers..and I knew that people who dismissed Sashi's performance would dismiss my opinions about her likewise. However for some reason, I feel like this tribe is the place to let it all out. At long last!

Anyway, back to the butt -kissing. I guess maybe it's not really butt kissing if it's TRUE, but I think Sashi is one of the finest dancers I've seen perform, has a great eye for costume and style, and constantly inspires me to keep dancing and keep improving myself, my friendships and my life. Thats a pretty tall order to fill, and really exceptional when you consider that I connected with her through an ad for "TRIBAL BELLYDANCE IN OC".

Well, I needed to have a place where people would be nice.

Not fake and kiss-ass nice, mind you, that's just as obnoxious as being catty sometimes! But seriously people, let's build each other up. I love my belly dance community. Let's discuss how marvelous we all are.

So, please, think of a dancer or musician who inspires you , and let's talk about why. Isn't that much nicer? And who knows? You might find that you inspire people without even realizing it!!

(see, I try [not always successfully] to make a point to tell people, even complete strangers, things that I think about them that I know I would want to hear if someone thought it about me...and that's what this tribe's about)

This is really a tribe started so we can gush about all the dancers we adore!?? awesome!

Just to name a few:

ATASH MAYA (in San Diego): Simply amazing, they will leave you speachless. I have seen several of their performances and theres never a dull moment. Beautiful, talented, graceful, creative. And so goofy at times, which makes them all the more lovely!

SABRINA of Atash Maya as a teacher. I was only able to make it to 2 classes before i moved out of California, but she was awesome. The class was packed, but that did not hinder her at all from giving out individual attention were it was needed. I love that she would get the class started on a move, then she would stop and walk around so she could truly see who was getting it and who needed some extra guidance.

BASTET (somewhere in California) rocks!! From the first time I saw them perform, I was blown away. So much energy, they REALLY want to make you get up and shake & shimmy with all your soul. I adore them, wish I could have packed them in my suitcase so I could always have them around. MAYBE they will come to an event in the Baltimore, DC or Philidelphia area in the near future (hint hint)

RED MOON TRIBE: You girls are awesome for bringing ATS and Tribal Fusion BD to Springfield, Missouri. For you strength, your dedication to learning and sharing this art, and for encouraging one another.. you are all beautiful, wonderful women. Though my time there was brief, I will never forget any of you!

Oh and one more adoration going out to She who started this tribe, your awesome too! =) Actually I have heard wonderful things about you, and starting this tribe makes me adore you all the more!

The other night I performed at a show, and a friend from high school came to see me. Tonight he sent me a message saying that one segment of my performance put him in a meditative trance. Now, that could just mean he was really, really bored, but I chose to take it as a compliment. :) Anyway, it immediately made me think, He's GOT to see Rachel Brice!! Her other-worldliness makes me as an audience member feel so peaceful and meditative.

While I would never want to try to be just like her- that would serve only to highlight how unique she is while making me look like some vague shadow of a star- she does inspire me to allow serentiy in my performances sometimes.

I love Rachel Brice!
