Please join us for an exciting weekend of dancing, drumming, and strumming for our third annual Spring Hafla event with Souhail Kaspar on May 2nd, 2009 in Tempe, Arizona.
Grammy-nominated percussionist Souhail Kaspar returns to the Valley of the Sun for a fun-filled weekend of dance, music, and drum workshops. Special guest artists include multi-talented Moroccan musician Rachid Halihal and the lovely neo-tribal dancer Jane Archer, owner of Euphoria Studios in Portland. Saturday night, come to the star-studded hafla dance party extravaganza featuring live music with Souhail and Rachid, a rocking percussion section and special guest musicians. There will be featured dance performances by the magnificent Jane Archer, funky Mia Donna, beautiful Christina Karras, and more surprises to be announced soon. Check out the vending bazaar including Zaghareet- featured Anaya Tribal where you can boost your dance wardrobe or get spring/summer birthday presents for that special someone. Wear your best spring dance gear and get ready to party! There is open dancing for everyone when the featured dancers aren't performing. The event takes place at the beautiful Plaza de Anaya World Fusion Studio in Tempe, Arizona.

Rhythm and Movement for Dancers with Souhail Kaspar and Jane Archer: Learn to visually portray Middle Eastern music with your body! Hone your musical ear to hear accents and melodies that can really add punch to your performance. Souhail has coached hundreds of dancers across the nation in traditional Egyptian raqs sharqi with his warm and patient teaching style. All skill levels are welcome. (Saturday 2:00 – 4:00 $45)
Neo Tribal Techniques and Combinations with Jane Archer: Neo Tribal bellydance is a classic, solid fusion of ATS and cabaret. Using the musical changes & accents as our guide, learn how to put together Neo-Tribal Bellydance Combinations, using variations with the basics of ATS. (Saturday 10:30—12:30 $45)
Spins and Turns with Jane Archer: Simple ways to improve your spins, artistic inside & outside turns, basic barrel rolls broken down so you can actually do them, graceful Rossah turns & more. Learn to utilize your performing space while staying grounded. (Sunday 10:30—12:30 $45) -

We will be serving desserts. Please bring your own wine or beverage of choice and any snacks you would like to share. For dinner, take advantage of one of the great restaurants near the Plaza in Tempe, then join us for dessert and dancing!
