Parmi les styles abordés, le festival ouvre sa programmation à des domaines aussi variés que la danse orientale contemporaine, le flamenco oriental, le gypsy fusion, la salsa orientale, le bellywood, la fusion indo-orientale, l'indian fusion, le bellypopping, le tribal ATS, le tribal-fusion, le tribal gothique, le style burlesque, etc…

Here is Marthyna's school calendar as well as update on Tribally Yours 2008. It is just around the corner, I can't wait, this is sooo exciting!

January 7 * Winter classes begin (12 weeks) at Marthyna's oriental dance school (you can consult www.marthyna.com to gets details).

New classes:

Tribal Fusion for beginners on thursdays (with me) and Intermediate on mondays with Dominique.

Cardio Baladi on thursday 7:15 to get rid of the holiday cookies. :) This class is a fitness class with all the fun of bellydancing. :D

Gitano on wednesday 6:15 for those who can not have enough of the roma. Discover the road of the gypsies/roma with us.

January 31st * Due date for submissions to perform at Tribally Yours 2008.
If you plan to submit to TY08, we need to receive your form by that date. A comity will then review the submissions and decide who will be part of the hafla on friday and who will part of the Gala show on Saturday

February 1 * End of the pre-sale period for Tribally Yours.
There are still spots to the VIP room and Marcel-Dulude Center, but don't wait to register. After February 1st, pricing will go up 15 %. Don't miss the chance to be part of the only tribal and fusion festival in Quebec!

February 9th * Les Trib’elles will be part of the APAM fundaiser show in Saint-Hyacinthe.

February 15 * Tribally Yours' tickets sale begin
Reserve your tickets to take advantage of the presale period. Tickets will be available by February 15; you can purchase them via members of Les Trib'elles, Shuvanies, in person at the school or by mail.

We have two shows this year:

Friday Night's Hafla – only 30 tickets to see great artists "up close and personnal" and discuss with them around a nice cup of mint tea. This is a very nice evening, friendly and welcoming.

Saturday Night's Gala show – Marcel-Dulude Center welcome more people to give all a chance to see an incridible show with renown dancers. Kajira Djouhmana will perform ATS "à la Black Sheep Bellydance" as well as tribal gothic to mesmerize you; Unmata perform its unique blend of tribal fusion, Bellyqueen (all 7 of them!) are happy to show you their new choreographies, created just for us; and Les Trib’elles have planned a little surprise for you all… Don't forget, we will have more artists soon!

Hi there ladies! I had such a great time when you all came to Tucson!! The workshop was really fun. And, the show was amazing. I was so honored and humbled to perform in the show and hang with you guys in the dressing room. I hope the video turned out ok. Recap of Peko Shoot, plus Kaeshi visits Australia

Dear Bellyqueen Friends,

The last few weeks have been a whirlwind... preparing for Rakkasah East, then shooting 13 dance pieces for a full length Bellyqueen performance DVD in California with dancers, Amar Gamal, Anasma, Elisheva, Fayzah, Sandralis and Susan Frankovich. Everyone really pulled together as a team, when they were not actively performing, they helped out with costuming, rehearsal coaching, makeup, hair, and were also an in-house cheer squad for those in front of the cameras.

Nerves were frayed at times from the stress of missing baggage, air tickets and props, plus the omnipresent thought that we were doing was going to be recorded FOREVER (for the scrutiny of all....gulp). Aside from that, everything ran pretty smoothly. I feel very fortunate and lucky to be surrounded by such incredibly talented people. It was also great to spend some quality time with Amar. Now that we live in different cities, we don't have as much of a chance to meet up so it's always special when we do. It was also inspiring to see the other dancers that were also there. Peko Records is releasing multiple DVDs next year and shot 80 dance pieces over the course of 4 days... Aziza (Montreal), Jill Parker (San Francisco), Natalie (Miami), Nadira (Seattle), the Shimmy Sisters (LA), Willow (Hawaii), Rania (LA), Monica Fernandez (LA), Aubre (LA), Louchia (LA), Sashi (LA), Ariellah (San Fran), Tempest...and many many more. We will be the first ones to line up to buy all the DVDs because a lot of the dancing was truly stellar. Lauren, Mher, Moses and the rest of the team at Peko rock. Lilililili.

After a 30 hour trip to Sydney (New York to Hong Kong via Siberia, then Hong Kong to Sydney), I went straight to the RTA (Road Transport Authority) to resurrect my driving license. Living in NYC, there is no need to drive because everyone catches the subway, so even though I lost my wallet over 7 years ago and my license along with it, I never bothered to do anything about it until now. I've been driving every day since I've been back and it FEELS GOOD. Yay! I'm an adult again!

Yesterday, I caught with an old friend and his new wife over a giant pot of soy Chai latte from one of best cafes in the world, "Badde Manor's" in the inner city suburb of Glebe, and walked along Coogee beach to find cuttle and blow fish washed up on the shoreline. I have been teased relentlessly about my american accent, "Kae, you sound SO AMERICAN. And how can you marry someone named BRAD, that's such an AMERICAN name". Oh dear, I only have two and a half weeks to get my Aussie accent back. The countdown has begun...

Wed Sept 27th and Thurs Sept 28th 2006: Tribal Fusion Workshops

Susan Frankovich is a Tribal Fusion Bellydancer based in Long Beach, California. She has performed extensively in New Mexico and New York. She also travels regularly to Croatia to share her art. Until June of 2006, Susan was based in New York City and danced with Bellyqueen as well as PURE (Public Urban Ritual Experiment). She has a background in many styles of dance, from African to Modern.

Susan studied theatre and music at the College of Santa Fe in New Mexico, graduating with a degree in Performance and Composition. I have Bellyjam and think its fantastic. Am wondering though, if there will ever be further instructional DVDs from BellyQueen. I love the duo performance on the BDSS Live DVD and would love to see something teaching more in that style (intermediate level, rather than basics).

Shimmy-a-thon 2006 planning is underway- mark your calendars for Sept 23rd. Last year's event raised over $16K for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and we are hoping to raise $20k this year.

For those of you who participated, donated or came to the event last year, thank you for your support and we hope we can count on you again this year! We have some exciting things planned for this year's event; so keep an eye out to www.shimmyathon.com for updates and information when it becomes available. Currently information about last year's event is out there; so those of you who missed it can get an idea of what we are about.

If you would like to help out in some way, please feel free to contact us! We love hearing from you and everyone's efforts are greatly appreciated. Will Amar still be in the troupe??

I'm confused about the New Moon performance. In the Bellyqueen website is listed as 1/25, but Sera lists it for the 18th in the New Moon Schedule of Dancers.
Which is it?? I wouldn't want to miss this event.

I was thinking of creating a tribe for Bellyqueen and then I noticed the tag was already taken! It's a nice surprise. :-)

Anyhow, Amar is coming to New York on January 12th for only one day after being gone for many months in Monte Carlo dancing with the Superstars. It will be so great to see her again. She will be teaching a workshop on January 12th from 8-10pm at 440 Studios in the East Village. The info will go up on the Bellyqueen site very soon.

Breaking news is that there is a brand new Bellyqueen company with 4 new members. More about this later.
