My close, dear friend SisterSea has been a poet for many years. Her deep and insightful poetry always leaves me in awe. Per her request, and since her computer is not fully functional at the moment, I will be posting her poems weekly until she is technologically independant. From the book: SisterSea's Poetry pg. 49

The Answer

The emptiness I feel inside like a sorrow in my soul
Has slowly crept throughout my being till now I feel so low.
I look around the world I see or feel no love or compassion
Sadness wells within my heart and sparks an unknown passion.
My brothers and my sisters have long since closed their eyes
Their ears and minds are likewise shut as each one slowly dies.
I reach out a trembling hand and try to hold them close
This life of solidarity should not be what they chose.
Upon the world with a single purpose we were placed
A union created by all mankind their troubles could be faced.
Instead they slowly turn their backs away from one another
Not sharing in this life, no sisters and no brothers.
The time is passing quickly as our planet slowly dies
Will we heed the call before it's late and travel to the skies?
This question is not one that I alone can answer
No being in this world can hear it from each other.
Until they stop and slowly turn and face the way they've come
And reach within their silent pain to remember where they are going.
A sharing of each other's love and lifting of the pain
There is nothing left to loose and everything to gain.
Now look me slowly in the eyes and reach into my soul
And take with you the peace you need to achieve your ultimate goal.
I've shared with you my knowledge and all of my concern
It's for the sake of all our children this lesson you must learn.
For life to come upon you they will so much depend
A future's what they ask of you not merely and end.
So take my hand my friend and never let it go
The things I have to share with you, you already know.
Begin the process now that will heal this wounded land.
