Is Sunil a GooRoo?

Sunil says we don't need an eternal guru. Yet by speaking thusly he is acting in the same capacity as a gooroo! Why do I need to accept what he says blindly, and not what the traditionalists say in India.
True it is a cheating guru in name only who offers to sell one a mantra to chant and thus become liberated, or to touch them with a peacock feather or produce some gold. But although family relationships are temporary the relationship with the guru is not. Lord Krishna Himself set the example with His guru Sandipani Muni by pleasing his guru in all regards, even at risk of danger in the forest with Sudama Vipra. Later he got back his gurus dead son from Yamaraja, a task only fit for the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
Someone who shows us how to open up a packet of ketchup for our fries might be called a guru, but actually guru means heavy with knowledge. The term has been picked up and is used loosely but there really aren't gurus showing us how to buy hamburgers, fried chicken, meat from the butcher and all that. These are not real gurus, they may be authorities on how to eat meat or in their own field but that's as far as they go.
The guru takes his disciple back to Godhead so the relationship between spiritual master and disciple is eternal. We mustn't be on the bodily concept in relationship with the guru and think him an ordinary person not worth serving. The genuine guru is as good as God because he can bring us God. It is like a mailman, he delivers us letters from the government. So the guru brings us knowledge about God, Krishna, and doesn't change anything.

you quote sri krishna, yet it was krishna who said that "the soul has no relations, cannot be killed etc". so why do you say that the soul needs a guru? in this age of criminals, its safer not to have a guru. the godman so called "satya" sai baba broke a hip due to osteoporosis,AND IS A KNOWN PAEDOPHILE.yet he claims to be god....
there are many who consider this rogue as their guru.....
lord krishna did everything he did just to confirm to the norms of his time , as he himself said "material actions dont contaminate me" and "in whatever i do, men follow". so his service to his guru was not out of any compulsion, but just to conform to his assumed role of a hindu of the time.whom should srikrishna call as his guru and whom does he need as a guru?he is himself a jagat-guru...with the surfeit of bogus guru's nowadays,im sure he'd have done the exact opposite and thrashed his "guru" soundly ,to set an example..

        mighty supermouse,
guru disciple relationships are eternal. material relationships are temporary. it is hard to find a bona-fide guru but krishna is within our hearts and if we are sincere he will guide us to one. keep looking. I am not sincere but I found one very rare and genuine guru with no false ego, no sense of false pride, full of pure love for Krishna and a servant of the his servants. this is the genuine test of a guru. he is the servant of the servant of the dearmost servants of Krishna.

Wendy is right. But some people have a misconception that "guru' means so many other things. The guitar guru, or the guru of love, etc.
The word guru should be saved to mean only one who can deliver his disciples freely from the cycle of birth and death. No other person can do this.
