Re: Dances of India Dvds By Meera
Fri, September 29, 2006 - 7:38 PMI just got the Bollywood to Bollydance video (71 minutes), and the Ancient to Modern Dances of India video (89 minutes). The Bollywood video has a warm up at the beginning, a lesson on how to do the dances, a really great workout/dance, then a cool down. Oh, and at the end she has a world premiere music performance video.
The Ancient video is similar: a yoga warmup, the lesson, the fitness dances, the cool down. There's also a music performance thing at the end that is amazing. She also shipped these to me REALLY fast, which was great because I was so excited to see them! -

Sun, February 11, 2007 - 11:41 PMHi Melanie, thanks for the short wrap up, what can you also tell us what is actually taught?
And who you think can profit from these DVDs (are they for beginners only?) -

Re: Dances of India Dvds By Meera
Mon, February 12, 2007 - 8:53 AMWell I have Meera's Bhangra and I would say it is for all levels who want to give bhangra a try. Lots of repetition, good direction, and combinations. It's quite the workout for those of us not used to bouncing! I want to 'master' the video before I join in with the local Sikh dancers on Sunday nights when they dance at the local community center.
Meera, Which of your dvds teaches Bharatha natyam? -

Re: Dances of India Dvds By Meera
Mon, February 12, 2007 - 1:15 PMOooo now you've got my attention! I've enjoyed my FitTV workouts (the Masala Bhangra workout with Sarita Jain is great fun) but now I think I'm ready to try more.....I'll definitely be tuning in to this thread as I've heard nothing but good things about Meera :)
Meera, do you have a website for your videos that I can look at? If there is both a Bhangra one and a Bharatha Natyam one, I think I'd like to order both.....
Namaste,
~Sunayna :) -

Re: Dances of India Dvds By Meera
Sun, October 14, 2007 - 10:43 AMFINALLY! I was able to score Meera's 'Ancient to Modern' DVD and I absolutely love it!!
The bhangra choreo. was quite fun, but the Bollywood and BN were my favorites.
I can put my little stamp of approval on this DVD and Meera....I got to meet her at Yaa Halla Ya'll this year and she was so amazingly sweet and fun! We learned a great choreography to Dus Bahane, and had the best time learning more about mudras and how to enjoy the beautiful dances of India. I consider myself 'sparked'.....
