  The main places are athletic clubs and hotels. I know not all hotel pools are on this list but most are probably private for guests, like the Mandarin Oriental and the Gansevoort Hotel. I'd think Chelsea Piers is your best bet. Some apt bldgs have them but they're for residents and their guests and I don't know of a whole lot of them to begin with.

    Not so sure those rec center pools are free. Used to be you needed to get a pass to use them. Or maybe the pass is free?
