Dance lets my soul breath

Dance lets me know that I am not that clumsy child who always used to fall down the stairs.

Dance let me know that I will continue to be strong and flexible long past the age that the women of my family have developed back problems!

Dance allows me to experience friendship and kinship with others!

Dance allows me to express myself in ways that I never could before.

I'm going to be the wet blanket. Dance means exercise to me. It means my joints may not freeze with arthritis in the future. There's just too much arthritis in the family tree. I was raised in a non-dancing household. No ballet, tap, or jazz in my childhood. Everything was too expensive. No social dancing because it was where you had to go to dance that was evil. There were no ballroom dance studios in my area. I did some folk dancing in junior high school because we had no gymn in 7th grade. Then, I joined the SCA and did some of those dances. Most of the time, I feel like I'm just flopping my arms around without grace. I have no desire to perform. My thought has always been that I would like to be like a woman from the Middle East, who puts a scarf around her hips and joins the dancing at a party.

Some day I'll finally finish updating my personal web site and have a few galleries of my best shots.

Dancing allows me to be me. I feel free when I am dancing. I can express myself through my dance whether I am feeling happy,sad, flirty, funny.....it is cathartic.

I would like to add, that I love sharing the art with other women.
I love to see the transformation in my students; from shy, self-conscience beauties to Look at me!!!

I have no word to describe the feeling I have when I finish a performance (well, elated comes to mind); there is no other feeling that can compare. I wish everyone I know could experience this feeling at least once.
