So what is it?

BT is a community. it's not here to step on toes or existing bike projects, but instead bring them (and us) together.

BT is you. It works on basic DIY principles - that is, YOU plan the events, collaborate with folk (make good use of the discussion board), share skills, organize events, promote them (online and making flyers to post around town) and make it work. be prepared to go outside of your regular comfort zones. it will be necessary.

BT is about doing the right thing yourself. creating what you want out of life. not standing by waiting for instructions. it's also about learning that the amount of fun you have is not dependent on the amount of money you spend.

BIKE-IN MOVIES (almost) every thursday - liberating film from the theater, removing you from your car, fueling discussion, inspiring people to act. this happens almost every thursday at different locations every week. always free, usually outside - backyards, alleys, parking lots, blank walls, fields, parks, gardens, bridges, reclaiming any empty unused spaces with a power outlet. Films are non-conventional, always informative - documentary, fiction, music, political, social, shorts, local films, BYO short films.

ALLEY CATS - these are illegal (no permit) bike races - spawned in the 80's by the bike messenger sub-culture - that run through city streets, using different places as checkpoints where racers collect marks on their sheets. CULVERT BIKE DERBYS - think secluded drainage ditches on the eastside, mostly dry and debris free. now imagine night time, music, lights, secluded, noise blocked by cement walls, lotsa body padding...

BIKE POLO - The rules of standard polo essentially remain intact, with two teams of four trying to hit a ball through the opposing team's goalposts. differs from standard polo because score is rarely kept.

XEROCRACY - each person is free to invent her or his own reasons for participating in BT and is free to share those reasons with others. ZOOBOMBS - a bicycling activity in which participants ride small children's bicycles downhill rapidly, with the aid of gravity, sometimes alcohol, and often superhero strength. BIKE CARAVANS - planning to bike to an event, show, work or whatever and know lots of other folks who are biking there too? so arrange a place to meet on the way and ride out en masse. safety in numbers. raises the profile of biking. make mass rides a common, daily ocurrence, not just a monthly "event".
