Re: NOVEMBER WHOS AFOOT
Sat, October 31, 2009 - 1:55 PMIt is very warm today.
It will not be so warm tomorrow.
The leaf color is amazing this year, and the night photography opportunities have been especially good as well.
The deer are finding our field to be a safe place to be out in the open. -

Sun, November 1, 2009 - 5:04 AMa month ago, I was working up in the Highlands of Scotland and we saw the first snow on the mountains there. Here, 350 miles south of that in the Peak District of England, winter arrived this morning with dramatic rain, flooding roads and wind blowing the rooks like leaves across the fields. The winter thrushes have started arriving too, small flocks whirling through the deep dales bringing new shapes in the skies and new voices to listen for in the woods......I like November!

Mon, November 2, 2009 - 5:10 PMBeen very cool here this fall. A soft progression of cool fronts have rolled through and brought with them a perfect succession of rain to feed my, as of yet still young, fall garden. Providing some respite from an unusually dry (even for these parts) spring and summer.
Fungi abound!
The creeks and brooks have come alive and even the lakes in the area, long descending through record lows, have begun to inch back upward. This bodes well for many critters. -

Mon, November 2, 2009 - 5:42 PMDay of the dead here, so thats what we are doing. Remembering good times, playing music shared with loved ones, Lighting candles for the dead and making good the altar. Giving flowers, giving love, giving memories. And, i harvest the tobacco tonite. Day of the dead tobacco. should be extra fine this year. :) Feeling sorrow, cultivating love, letting go. getting ready. this is certainly a very scorpio year for me.

Re: NOVEMBER WHOS AFOOT
Fri, November 6, 2009 - 12:44 PMthe colors that are fall are waning, as winter meanders toward us. Frosty mornings and shivery nights, just perfect for nestling close together. The fall harvests are bountiful with lots of really good local stuff still available. Lots of local fall events are happening in response to the onset of the season...barn dances, hay rides, apple picking (nearing the end), harvest dinners a the local churches.
We carved the pumpkins for Halloween into scary little jack-o-lanterns and then we prepared and blanched them the following day for Thanksgiving pies. Roasted the seeds, which were yummy as always.
Bear spirit approaches me...as the month moves forward I feel that instinct to pull it all close and begin the nesting for the winter. Beautiful time of year here. -

Sun, November 8, 2009 - 12:09 AMBOOM... Big rains, loud thunder, hail and lightning rolling through today, just crushing any who dare to stand in defiance.
Mushroom peoples of all shapes and kinds are out in droves happy and soaking up the rains, peeking out from under leaves and behind blades of grass to those who take the time to say hello....
